RN, Epilepsy Monitoring Unit US-OR-Portland Requisition ID: 2026-38130 Position Category: Nursing-RN Job Type: ONA union represented Position Type: Regular Part‑Time Posting Department: 10D Epilepsy Monitoring Unit / CTRC Posting Salary Range: $55.24 – $92.02 per hour, based on RN degree and level of experience Posting FTE: 0.75 Posting Schedule: Variable, Nights Posting Hours: 1900 – 0730 Drug Testable: Yes Department Overview The unit’s dual mission focuses on providing robust nursing services for inpatient acute care epilepsy diagnostic monitoring (EMU) and non‑acute care inpatient/outpatient clinical translational research (CTRC) services. It also serves as an overflow unit for various hospital acute care patients. We provide outstanding participant and patient/family‑centered care in a collegial dual mission ambulatory and acute care setting focused on detail, quality, and patient experience. Patient population will include but is not limited to: Epilepsy patients: Nursing care for patients with seizure disorders admitted for epilepsy monitoring and surgical diagnostic intervention, based on the EMU NPEOC. Other acute care patients: Nursing care for medical and surgical adult patients, age 18 and older, based on the Inpatient Adult Acute Care NPEOC. Research participants: Nursing care for volunteers in research protocols, following specific protocol requirements and the CTRC Nurse Practice Expectations of Care (NPEOC), in compliance with all laws, regulations, policies, and OHSU procedural requirements. Pediatrics are seen only in the outpatient/ambulatory environment. Majority of night‑shift patient care is EMU and other acute care patients. The inpatient environment comprises eight beds; the research ambulatory/outpatient environment comprises four infusion chairs and five clinic exam rooms. Nurses on 10D are first oriented in the acute care setting, then orient into the research setting. Required Qualifications 1 year current RN experience in a hospital setting BSN or ADN from a program accredited by CCNE, ACEN, or CNEA; Associate degree nurses must enroll in a BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete it within 5 years Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License BLS from AHA required; new hires will complete during orientation Ability to perform job duties with or without accommodation Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) required within 6 months of hire Nuclear Medicine Medication Administration and Bio‑Hazardous Waste Class required within 6 months of hire Preferred Qualifications Prior research experience preferred National certification in the specialty area desired (recommended) Certified Clinical Research Professionals (CCRP) or Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) Certified Neuroscience Registered Nurse (CNRN) Medical‑Surgical Nursing Certification Additional Details Length of Orientation Experienced Nurse External candidates: OHSU & Nursing New Employee Orientation (NEO) for about a week Either Transition to Practice (TTP) Program Specialty Fellowship/Fellowship Learning Pathway or orientation experience for 6 weeks–26 weeks depending on the care area.
