Certifications/Requirements

• Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiology
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification meeting the American Heart Association standards, renewed every two years

Description

The Radiology Technologist will be responsible for preparing patients for examinations, explaining procedures, and addressing patient inquiries. This role includes performing diagnostic procedures as ordered by physicians.

Minimum Requirements

Education

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a specialized training program in Radiological Technology, approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

Experience

• One year of experience preferred in performing radiological procedures within a hospital, clinic, or physician's office

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
• Familiarity with radiologic equipment, procedures, and safety hazards, including patient movement
• Effective verbal communication skills with the ability to explain procedures clearly to patients
• Aptitude for identifying and troubleshooting equipment problems with simple adjustments

Essential Functions

• Perform patient care and technical duties accurately and in a timely manner
• Greet patients courteously and assess requests for appropriate exams and diagnoses
• Verify patient identity using two identifiers: Name and Date of Birth
• Explain procedures to patients in understandable terms
• Prepare and position patients for examinations, ensuring correct technique for imaging
• Operate imaging equipment safely and efficiently
• Conduct procedures within emergency departments, operating rooms, and nursing departments while adhering to sterile techniques
• Prepare and administer IV and Oral contrast media as necessary, documenting any reactions
• Document patient history, imaging limitations, and relevant details into PACS
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in work areas
• Promote radiation safety and adhere to ALARA standards
• Escort patients throughout the department and provide excellent customer service

Clerical Duties

• Monitor workflow processes utilizing PACS, image release, and CD burning tasks
• Assist with office functions as required
• Perform quality assurance duties as assigned
• Provide guidance to radiology students regarding procedures and clerical functions

Non-Essential Functions

• Perform related and miscellaneous duties as assigned
