Essential Duties Prepare all meals and snacks for crew members. Order all food and galley supplies on a trip‑by‑trip basis. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the galley. Our deck and processing crews work 16‑hour shifts, 7 days a week. Most trips average 4‑5 weeks in duration, but depending on fishing season, catch rates, weather, vessel size and other factors, trips can be as short as 10‑12 days or as long as 60+ days. Crew members generally work multiple trips (2 months or longer) in a single rotation. The daily rate is paid for all cooking days, including days in port between trips. Payroll is processed on a trip‑by‑trip basis. Within 21 days of offload, crew members receive a check or direct deposit for 100% of trip earnings. Travel & Expenses BWS arranges all travel from the cook’s hometown to Dutch Harbor, AK, and back at the end of the rotation. BWS pays 100% of travel costs between Seattle, WA and Dutch Harbor, AK. Additional costs for flights beyond Seattle are deducted from settlement at trip end. There is no up‑front cost for travel, but bag fees for checked luggage must be paid by the cook. If hotels are required during travel, BWS pays 100% of the cost, including meal vouchers. Qualifications Current State of Alaska Food Handler’s permit. Current Serve Safe certification. Previous cooking experience and/or training. Previous experience cooking or working at sea is preferred but not required. Ability to order all needed galley supplies on a trip‑by‑trip basis. Ability to provide quality meals while staying within budget limits. Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization in the galley. Must pass pre‑employment drug screening (commercial fishing falls under federal authority; hiring requires negative THC result).
