Part-time Optometry Office Assistant

Approximate Hours 9:30 am to 6:00 pm on weekdays, 9:00 am to 5:30 pm Saturdays

Office Assistant Responsibilities:

• Greet each patient promptly in a friendly and professional way
• Answer phone calls, return missed calls, and schedule appointments
• Search for patient's vision benefit plans to obtain authorizations before exams
• Pre-test patients before their exam with the doctor. Training will be provided to operate our optometry pre-test instruments.
• Collect professional fees for exams
• Regular, light cleaning of the office and optometry instruments
• Maintaining inventory of contact lenses
• No selling
• Communicate clearly and kindly

Qualifications

• Seeking the skills of a receptionist. Optical / optometry experience is desirable, but not required.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience in an in-person office setting working with the public, preferably in an administrative or clerical role. Experience in a healthcare related setting is optimal.
• Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and comfortable working independently
• Must be committed to providing outstanding customer service and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills
• Careful attention to detail
• Ability to maintain composure while multi-tasking and use good judgment when answering the concerns of patients
• Proficient computer skills, ability to learn our office software, and operate general office equipment
• Must currently live within a reasonable driving distance of South Jordan, UT
• Ability and willingness to learn new skills and receive direction

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $17.50 per hour

Expected hours: 23 per week
