Registered Nurse Supervisor

About Company:

The Caswood Group is hiring Registered Nurses (RNs only) to work with youths at a youth correctional facility in Monroe County. The registered nurses will be covering evening and weekend shifts ONLY , working with other staff in a nursing and supervisory role.

About the Role:

The Registered Nurse plays a critical leadership role in overseeing the delivery of comprehensive nursing care within a youth detention facility. This position ensures that all healthcare services meet regulatory standards and are tailored to the unique needs of detained youth, promoting their physical and mental well-being. The supervisor coordinates nursing staff activities, manages clinical operations, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans. They are responsible for maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment while addressing the challenges associated with providing healthcare in a secure setting. Ultimately, this role aims to enhance health outcomes and support the rehabilitation process of detained youth through effective nursing leadership and clinical expertise.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current, unencumbered and valid NY Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably including experience in correctional, pediatric, or adolescent healthcare settings.
• Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in a healthcare environment.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
• Strong knowledge of nursing principles, healthcare regulations, and youth detention facility protocols.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree or higher.
• Experience working specifically within juvenile justice or youth detention healthcare systems.
• Advanced certifications such as Certified Correctional Health Professional (CCHP) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
• Training in mental health nursing, trauma-informed care, or substance abuse counseling.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems used in correctional healthcare.

Responsibilities:

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care tailored to the physical and mental health needs of detained youth.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, facility policies, and professional nursing standards.
• Collaborate with medical providers, mental health professionals, and correctional staff to develop and monitor individualized treatment plans.
• Manage medical emergencies and provide guidance on infection control, medication administration, and health education.
• Maintain accurate and confidential health records in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
• Provide training, mentorship, and performance evaluations for nursing personnel to promote professional development.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance healthcare services within the detention facility.

Skills:

The role requires strong clinical nursing skills to assess and manage the complex health needs of detained youth, including both physical and mental health conditions. Leadership and supervisory skills are essential for effectively managing nursing staff, ensuring compliance with policies, and fostering a collaborative team environment. Communication skills are critical for coordinating care with multidisciplinary teams, educating youth on health matters, and documenting clinical information accurately. Problem-solving and critical thinking skills are used daily to respond to medical emergencies and adapt care plans to evolving situations. Additionally, proficiency with healthcare technology and electronic health records supports efficient documentation and quality improvement efforts.

Compensation details: 50-55 Hourly Wage
