LVN/LPN Medical Surgical

Job Summary:

This is a 4-week assignment for RNs in a flexible med/surg tele unit located inside a GI Endoscopy space. The role involves providing patient care for overflow boarder patients, supporting ED flow, and adapting to fluctuating patient volume.

Responsibilities:

• 
  Assess and monitor patient conditions, including vital signs and blood glucose levels.
  
  
• 
  Insert and manage feeding tubes, Foley catheters, and NG or G tubes, ensuring proper care and documentation.
  
  
• 
  Administer medications via IM, SQ, and other routes, including ear and eye drops.
  
  
• 
  Communicate patient status changes effectively to RNs and MDs using SBAR.
  
  
• 
  Adhere to isolation precautions, oxygen therapy, and other infection control measures.
  
  
• 
  Document patient care activities accurately in EPIC and follow all charting policies.
  
  

Qualifications:

• 
  Possess a NY RN license in good standing.
  
  
• 
  Have a minimum of 1-year clinical experience in med/surg or tele units.
  
  
• 
  Be competent in phlebotomy and IV placement as mandatory skills.
  
  
• 
  Demonstrate proficiency in EPIC electronic health records.
  
  
• 
  Show ability to float between med/surg and tele units, with minimal RTO requests.
  
  
• 
  Be flexible to work day shifts (412 hours, 7:00-19:00) and floating as needed.
