Houston offers the scale and opportunity of a major international city alongside the distinctive lifestyle of Southeast Texas. The city is a global center for healthcare, research, energy and business, with the Texas Medical Center forming one of the most significant healthcare and research hubs in the country. Outside of work, Houston offers an extensive restaurant and cultural scene alongside destinations such as the Museum District, Theater District, Memorial Park, Hermann Park and Buffalo Bayou Park. Professional sports, concerts, festivals and major annual events provide plenty to explore throughout the year. With two major airports, a wide variety of neighborhoods and no Texas state individual income tax, Houston provides an attractive base for veterinarians looking to combine significant career progression with the amenities and opportunities of one of the country's largest metropolitan areas.
