Business Consultant (BC)
Reports to VP of Operations
Position Summary:
The Franchise Business Consultant (FBC) serves as a strategic business partner to PrimoHoagies franchise owners, driving operational excellence, profitability, sales growth, and consistent brand execution across the assigned portfolio. This role is responsible for influencing franchisees through coaching, accountability, data-driven business analysis, and relationship management to ensure long-term success for both the franchisee and the PrimoHoagies brand.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Business Coaching:
· Conduct regular routine restaurant visits and accurately assess the operational performance (Quality, Service, Cleanliness, and Food Safety) of each restaurant versus PrimoHoagies operational excellence standards.
· Provides feedback and coaching to the restaurant manager, multi-unit operator and franchisee as appropriate on each restaurant’s performance along with counsel on how to improve operations.
· Assist operators in the development and execution of operational self-assessments that are calibrated to PrimoHoagies operational excellence standards.
· Reinforce accountability and follow-through related to corrective action plans and operational initiatives.
· Assist with training initiatives and the implementation of new company roll-outs.
· Share best practices and successful ideas from across the system.
2. Operational Excellence:
· Conduct regular unannounced visits per restaurant in an alternate daypart (lunch / dinner) using standard brand assessment/evaluations tools.
· Immediately escalates food safety issues, critical violations, pest issues or any other practice or store condition that represents a potential threat to public health to the franchise manager, operator, franchisee and to insure correction. Informs the PrimoHoagies Senior Operations Leadership Team (VP of Ops and COO) immediately of any such situation.
· Writes and retains notes and information on the feedback given to the franchisee. Utilizes evaluations conducted by the FBC to identify repeated opportunities, underlying issues, and draws conclusions from the individual inspections that add value to the franchisee’s understanding and builds their commitment to improvement.
· Ensure written and accurate operational histories of each franchisee are maintained and communicated. Utilizes professional practices of confidentiality concerning escalation plans and protocols to ensure that PrimoHoagies can conduct unannounced inspections and audits as needed to accurately assess franchisee’s operations and to enforce the franchise agreement.
3. Driving Improved Profitability:
· Regularly assesses franchisee financial performance based on P&L statements and other financial reports made available by the franchisee to help identify opportunities for improvements in profitability. Utilizes PrimoHoagies’ financial benchmarking report to review franchisee’s financial results versus similar franchise sales volumes.
· Utilizes various tools available to help the franchisee improve food, labor, and other controllable costs. Assists the franchisee in problem solving opportunity areas. Utilizes other experts such as company operators or financial staff to offer suggestions for improving results.
· Provides the franchisee with counsel on use of financial control practices such as P&L and business reviews and assists the franchisee in implementing and improving the use of these practices and processes.
· Provides counsel to the franchisee on matters related to facility reinvestment.
4. New Restaurant Openings:
· Work with cross-functional teams to facilitate new restaurant openings within the assigned portfolio.
· Work with Franchisees on Grand Opening Schedules, Ordering, Inventory, and staffing.
Qualifications
· 5–10+ years of QSR or fast-casual operations experience
· Multi-unit management experience
· Strong understanding of restaurant P&Ls and KPIs
· Proven coaching and influence skills (with & without direct authority)
· Excellent communication, organization, and time management
· Willingness to travel extensively (50–75%)
