CDM Smith is growing in North Carolina. In this role you will join our Charlotte, North Carolina operations as a Senior Water/Wastewater Project Manager and will have excellent client interaction skills, lead planning and design teams for multi-discipline projects, and manage programs in the fields of large diameter conveyance, water distribution and wastewater collection, water and wastewater pumping systems, water/wastewater treatment and residuals/biosolids projects in North Carolina. Responsibilities Manage water/wastewater design, permitting, and construction services from early concept development through construction. Lead project teams and mentor junior staff, including coordination and review of project assignments. Collaborate with technical specialists, project team members, and delivery managers. Assist with preparation of design drawings and specifications on large, complex, multi-discipline design projects. Prepare, monitor, and manage project budgets and schedules while managing the firm’s risk. Provide high-level planning and program analysis work including preparation of technical documents/reports. Stay active in the water/wastewater industry, keeping abreast of emerging technologies and professional society involvement. Assist in new business development by contributing to strategic planning, marketing, and business operations planning. Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to client requests for proposals (RFPs). Review draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local, and federal regulations and best practices. Interface with clients and government officials to clarify technical questions and provide updates to upper management. PMP (PMI), CCM or DBIA certification is required (within 12 months of hire or promotion onto the Approved Project Manager list). Domestic and/or international travel may be required. Travel frequency depends on duties and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental or chemical engineering. Professional engineering (PE) license. Project management experience on water/wastewater treatment and infrastructure design projects in North Carolina. Alternative project delivery experience.
