About the Role:

The Maintenance Technician Level I plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment and facilities within the organization. This entry-level position focuses on performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair tasks to minimize downtime and maintain production quality. The technician will work closely with senior maintenance staff to learn and apply best practices in equipment upkeep and safety protocols. By proactively identifying potential issues and responding promptly to equipment malfunctions, the Maintenance Technician helps sustain a safe and productive manufacturing environment. Ultimately, this role supports the overall manufacturing process by maintaining operational reliability and contributing to continuous improvement efforts.

The required skills enable the Maintenance Technician Level I to effectively perform routine inspections and basic repairs, ensuring equipment operates reliably. Strong problem-solving abilities help in diagnosing issues quickly and accurately, minimizing production interruptions. The ability to read technical documents allows the technician to follow maintenance procedures and understand equipment specifications. Preferred skills such as familiarity with CMMS enhance the technician's efficiency in tracking maintenance activities and scheduling tasks. Additionally, knowledge of safety standards ensures that all work is performed in compliance with regulations, promoting a safe workplace for all employees.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment and machinery to ensure optimal performance.
• Works from drawings, mechanical and pneumatic/hydraulic prints, electrical diagrams, manufacturers’ printed instructions to troubleshoot and locate mechanical, hydraulic/pneumatic and electrical problems in functional and control system. Adjust, repair, or replace defective parts or materials. Perform routine preventative maintenance inspections of hydraulic/pneumatic valves, lines, connections, pumps and check micro-preventative maintenance schedule.
• Verifies operation of machine sequence. Removes, cleans and replaces main feed screw and barrel as required. Inspects parts while disassembled. Assures all heater bands elements are operable. Replaces worn out units. Rebuilds hydraulic valves and pumps as necessary. Documents all findings and measurements.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
• Assist in repairing or replacing defective parts and components to minimize production downtime.
• Uses mechanical maintenance tools, equipment and machines as required. Uses Volt-Ohm-Ammeter for some electrical checks. Complies with all LOTO requirements.
• Assists in mold setting as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repairs.
• Adhere to all safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to prioritize maintenance tasks and support production schedules.
• Participate in training sessions to develop technical skills and knowledge of manufacturing equipment.
• Conduct preventative maintenance, facilities maintenance, and new machinery installation/modification as required. 
• Other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 6 - 12 Months in Maintenance role with emphasis on manufacturing (Injection Molding preferred) (or prior external experience).
• Must be proficient in Hydraulics, Pneumatic Controls, and Electrical. 
• Working knowledge or programming to assist in the troubleshooting of programmable controllers.
• Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends if necessary.
• Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Completion of a technical or vocational program in industrial maintenance or a related field.
• Experience with manufacturing equipment maintenance or repair.
• Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Basic welding or fabrication skills.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards in manufacturing environments.

Physical Requirements: 

• Must be able to stand entire shift (8+ hrs.). 
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
• Requires manual dexterity.
• Moderate physical demand involving lifting and moving of materials and equipment. 
• Frequently moves from waist level to floor level. 

Monday - Friday; 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM. Must be able to work overtime as needed.
