Staff Accountant

Biomerica, Inc. (NASDAQ: BMRA) is a publicly traded medical diagnostics company headquartered in Irvine, California. We develop, manufacture, and market diagnostic products serving clinical laboratories, healthcare providers, and consumers. We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting team. This position will support daily accounting operations, month-end close, inventory and cost accounting, financial reporting, and audit activities. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This role offers hands‑on exposure to corporate accounting and financial reporting within a publicly traded company, along with opportunities for professional growth. Key Responsibilities Accounts Payable & Payments Review, code, and process vendor invoices and employee expense reimbursements through RAMP, including three‑way matching when applicable Prepare and coordinate ACH, wire, and credit‑card payments in accordance with company approval procedures Maintain AP aging reports, reconcile vendor statements, and resolve invoice and payment discrepancies Maintain accurate vendor records, including W-9 documentation and payment information Assist with preparation of annual Form 1099 information returns, as required Purchasing & Procurement Support Review purchase requisitions and prepare purchase orders in accordance with established approval procedures Coordinate with production, warehouse, laboratory, and other departments to identify purchasing needs Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, availability, lead times, and order status Purchase non‑inventory supplies, including laboratory, office, and maintenance items Maintain accurate purchasing records and supporting documentation Inventory & Cost Accounting Review inventory transactions and reconcile inventory‑related general ledger accounts Record inventory receipts in the ERP system based on verified receiving documentation Assist with inventory cost adjustments, reserves, and variance analysis Support inventory cycle counts, physical inventory reconciliations, and inventory valuation Coordinate with purchasing, production, and warehouse teams to resolve inventory discrepancies General Accounting & Period-End Close Prepare and post monthly, quarterly, and annual journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, and adjustments Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including cash, accounts payable, inventory, prepaid expenses, and accrued liabilities Review general ledger activity, investigate discrepancies, and maintain supporting schedules Assist with financial statement preparation and P&L variance analysis Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, along with special accounting projects as assigned Financial Reporting & Audit Support Assist with financial schedules and supporting documentation for quarterly Form 10-Q and annual Form 10-K filings Support financial statement tie‑outs, account analyses, and external auditor requests Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation in accordance with company policies and internal control procedures Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field Working knowledge of general accounting principles and U.S. GAAP 1–3 years of relevant professional experience Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational and prioritization skills Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines High level of integrity and commitment to accuracy Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team Preferred Qualifications CPA candidate or actively pursuing CPA certification Experience with ERP or accounting systems Experience in manufacturing, inventory accounting, purchasing, or cost accounting Health insurance Vision insurance Life insurance Flexible spending account Employee stock purchase plan Paid time off Work Location This is a full‑time, on‑site position at our Irvine, California office.
