Household Maintenance Specialist- NYC

A private family is seeking an experienced, highly skilled, and versatile Maintenance Specialist / Carpenter to support the ongoing maintenance, repair, and improvement of a private residence on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on expert with broad experience across carpentry, building systems, and general construction. This individual will be responsible for maintaining the residence to a high standard, troubleshooting and resolving issues, completing custom projects, and supporting renovations and property improvements. The successful candidate will take pride in quality workmanship, demonstrate sound judgment, and work closely with the Estate Manager, household staff, and outside vendors.

• Perform general carpentry and finish work, including drywall cutting, installation, patching, and repairs.

• Complete interior and exterior painting and touch-up work.

• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of HVAC systems.

• Diagnose and address basic plumbing issues and perform routine plumbing maintenance.

• Handle general repairs, maintenance projects, installations, and custom improvements throughout the residence and property.

• Support renovations, construction projects, and property development initiatives as needed.

• Perform preventative maintenance to help ensure the residence and its systems remain in excellent working condition.

• Assist with general property upkeep and seasonal maintenance.

• Provide support with groundskeeping and exterior property maintenance when needed.

• Maintain tools, equipment, work areas, and supplies in an organized and professional manner.

• Coordinate with the Estate Manager, household staff, contractors, and outside vendors to complete projects efficiently and to a high standard.

• Expert knowledge of building systems, tools, materials, equipment, and applicable safety practices.

• Strong hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities, with a creative and practical approach to repairs and custom projects.

• High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

• Proactive, dependable, and self-motivated, with the ability to independently identify and address maintenance needs.

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.

• Ability to work effectively as part of a private household team and collaborate professionally with vendors and contractors.

• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

• Bilingual English/Spanish fluency is a significant plus.

 

Salary: $125,000–$150,000 per year 

 

Schedule: Monday - Friday
