Paralegal (Top Secret Clearance Required)

Paralegal Employment Type: Full-Time, Mid-Level Department: Legal CGS is seeking a dedicated Paralegal to join a fast‑paced legal team and support our legal accounts. The role involves delivering professional, accurate, and timely paralegal support to the Office of General Counsel and other stakeholders across the organization. Responsibilities Provide professional, accurate, timely, and reliable paralegal support reporting to the OGC and aiding LITB or IALB. Review work products prior to submission and develop products with minimal direct supervision. Receive, prioritize, and process requests such as document review or requests for legal advice or technical assistance. Research and locate responsive information documents and identify relevant laws, judicial decisions, and legal articles. Perform moderate or complex legal research, synthesize transcripts of hearings and oral arguments, review case‑related materials, and identify potentially conflicting statements or areas requiring further investigation. Write preliminary drafts of legal memoranda and correspondence. Assist in preparing draft legal documents (motions, briefs, memoranda of law, exhibits, etc.), conduct legal analysis, review documents for relevance and privilege, and assist attorneys through all phases of litigation. Review discovery materials for relevance and privilege, prepare privilege logs, and maintain documentation of records produced in discovery, correspondence sent, and case‑management functions performed. Assist with drafting and issuing preservation notices and litigation holds. Design, generate, and transmit reports regarding case assignments and productivity using case‑management databases. Analyze and interpret requests from customers. Research, locate, and gather material relevant to discovery and interrogatories, including outreach and informal interviews. Assist in preparation of declarations. Scan paper materials to digital image files (e.g., PDF). Conduct legal privilege reviews using Veritas eDiscovery Platform, Adobe Pro, or other discovery review platforms provided by the FBI. Apply redactions to documents and media files, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness. Review the work of peers for accuracy and provide constructive edits. Support management efforts to foster teamwork, planning, and decision making. Organize and maintain accurate records of assigned requests, including detailed case notes, discovery work plans, Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, and data entry into the OGC‑LITB case tracking database. Prepare electronic and/or paper releases for release to customers. Provide a high degree of professionalism and customer service in all interactions with discovery‑unit customers. Prioritize and schedule projects to accomplish objectives. Assist in representation efforts of the FBI in challenging situations. Coordinate classification reviews with subject‑matter experts and perform overlays of material returned from classification review. Collaborate closely with discovery team members on projects. Serve as a consultant to government employees regarding privilege application and document production. Communicate with employees at all levels of the FBI to complete projects with professionalism. Provide weekly status updates to management and periodic updates to Assistant General Counsels and other discovery‑unit customers. Conduct searches of FBI systems and databases to retrieve relevant documents or files (e.g., Sentinel, Internal Policy Office Policy Library and Policy Archives). Perform legal and other research, support the Legal Hold program and the Freeze List, and support tasks associated with information management/governance and the intersection of technology and law. Qualifications Paralegal certificate, JD, or current attendance at an ABA‑accredited law school with at least one year of study. At least two years of litigation paralegal experience; trial experience is highly desirable. At least one year of automated litigation support experience and sound knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and resources. Excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as Lexis and Westlaw. Hands‑on familiarity with word processing, databases (including document review and file‑management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems. Experience with eDiscovery tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources. Ability to consistently deliver the highest quality work under extreme pressure.
