Embedded Software Engineer

Industry: Electric Aviation / Advanced Air Mobility About: This role sits within the Embedded Software Engineering team of a pioneering eVTOL aircraft company that designs, develops, and manufactures light electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft for consumer, public service, and defence applications. The organisation has been flying its distinctive tilt-aircraft architecture for over a decade and is currently progressing its next-generation aircraft toward general release and scalable production. The Embedded Software Engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing safe, robust, and extensible firmware architecture that forms the backbone of the aircraft flight control system. This is a hands-on engineering position that includes direct participation in flight testing, offering the opportunity to experience aircraft systems first-hand in both local and remote environments. Responsibilities: Develop software and firmware for projects spanning sensors, control systems, communications, and navigation Improve testing automation, software quality, data collection, analysis, and validation processes Debug issues in production, determine root cause, and apply fixes in a timely manner Assist in flight testing activities both locally and at remote sites Required Experience & Skills: Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field 2+ years of professional engineering experience Strong software skills in C, C++, and Python with experience using ARM microcontrollers Hands-on experience through employment, student teams, or co-op internships Experience with real-time systems, Linux development, and low-level communication protocols including CAN, SPI, I2C, and UART Familiarity with control systems, robotics, and/or sensors Applicants must be eligible for employment in the United States and willing to work onsite Desirable / Additional Qualifications: Experience with embedded security practices Familiarity with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) protocols and integration #J-18808-Ljbffr Apera
