Oversee the strategic, financial, and operational responsibilities of Goodwill Houston's Transportation Department, including the movement of supplies and equipment between locations and the Attended Donated Center (ADC) operations department. Lead transportation operations to ensure a safe and timely flow of donations to the appropriate destinations. Responsible for the overall strategy and management of Goodwill Houston's logistics operations to ensure goods are transported efficiently and cost-effectively, and to optimize the process. Lead ADC associates and management to ensure world-class customer service and operational excellence. Translate corporate objectives into actionable plans and serve as the liaison between donated goods and senior leadership.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement annual budgets, forecasts, donation-volume targets, revenue per-pound goals, payroll-to-budget percentages, transportation dwell time, and other financial metrics.
• Provide strategic guidance and leadership to Area Managers, ADC Operations, and transportation management to ensure proper hiring, training, coaching, and performance management.
• Ensure the ADC teams in accordance with Goodwill Houston policies, procedures, and G.R.A.T.I.S. service procedures.
• Establish, track, and continuously improve Goodwill Houston key performance indicators (KPI).
• Enforce and evolve standardized processes and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide operational oversight and direction to achieve the objectives of the Donated Goods Program Team.
• Select, train, and develop associates to ensure safe and efficient operations and mission integration.
• Plan and adjust a transportation staffing model to meet business needs.
• Monitors Goodwill Houston's Electronic Management System (Samsara) to ensure pre-trip and post-trip inspections, driver routes are completed, Hours of Service, safety scores, etc., to ensure accident-free driving and processing, and minimize insurance costs.
• Ensure efficient fleet operations in alignment with the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) requirements and regulations, and apply as a best practice across the fleet.
• Follow up with transportation leadership and drivers to ensure routes are completed promptly.
• Collaborate with other leaders in Donated Goods Program to forecast demand and ensure availability of necessary resources.
• Use linkages and routing system information to update routing schedules and manifests, and recommend improved routing and linkages for optimum donors per square foot and to meet operational needs.
• Routine monitoring of third-party portal(s) to ensure fleet and vehicle maintenance is completed in a timely manner.
• Provide reports as needed.
• Monitor, assess, and document associates' performance to make improvements and/or take corrective action.
• Direct and/or conduct audits of vehicles, routes, and salvage loads by utilizing data, direct observation, Samsara, video surveillance, and any other available means.
• Ensure pre-shift huddles occur to provide daily expectations, communicate relevant Goodwill Houston policies and operating procedures, and ensure compliance with various regulatory agencies (DOT, OSHA, etc.).
• Support conducting weekly and monthly L10 meetings with transportation staff and drivers to recap operation and safety performance and drive a positive culture.
• Ensure that accidents, incidents, near-miss reports, vehicle defects, traffic violations, or vehicle damage are reported in a timely manner according to Goodwill Houston policies.
• Make data-driven recommendations to improve transportation operations and cost-savings by monitoring and verifying company reports, driver pick-up manifests, timecards, vehicle incident investigations, invoices/billing documentation, etc.
• Must be able to shadow all direct reports and fill in as needed.
• Ensure safety, risk management, and compliance procedures are being followed, documented, and any necessary follow-ups are completed according to Goodwill Houston's policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with all other departments to improve donation flow, technology, staffing models, supply inventory, site appearance, and community outreach.
• Perform regular site visits and audits to maintain safe, clean, organized, and donor-focused operations.
• Lead talent development, succession planning, fostering a culture of accountability, and promoting high performance within the donated goods operation.
• Act as the liaison between field operations and senior leadership, providing clear, data-driven updates and strategic recommendations.
• Perform other duties as directed by management to support evolving organizational needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A bachelor's degree in supply chain, business administration, operations management, or a relevant field is preferred; equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• A master's or advanced degree is a plus.
• A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in progressive operations/supply chain leadership.
• A minimum of five (5) years of experience in multi-site management with high volume, donor-facing, or retail/thrift operations.
• Experience in leading large teams (150+) across multiple locations in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, and TxDMV requirements and regulations.
• Excellent computer skills (proficient in Microsoft Office, POS/donation tracking systems, tablets (Supro), and inventory software platforms).
• Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to communicate and interact well with a variety of personality types.
• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship for current or future employment.
• Goodwill Houston does not offer visa sponsorship for employment purposes.

• Payroll (Actual vs. Budget E/R)
• Accurate donation counts and date entry into Supro tablets
• Processing velocity (24-hour rule)

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

• Regular twisting, bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and, occasionally, lift/move items up to 100 lbs. (e.g., large bags of donations, televisions, furniture, etc.)
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
• Moderate indoor noise with periodic exposure to outside temperatures.
