Advanced Telemetry RN | Clinical Nurse IIThis role is essential for delivering expert, patient-focused care within a telemetry unit in a regional healthcare setting in the Pacific Northwest. The Advanced Telemetry RN at the Clinical Nurse II level combines specialized skills and certifications to independently manage patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring, collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safety and optimal outcomes.Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Care: Monitor patients with continuous cardiac telemetry, perform detailed assessments, respond swiftly to changes in cardiac rhythms and neurological status, administer medications including non-titratable drips, and develop individualized care plans. Act as a compassionate patient advocate and provide education to patients and families on medical conditions, medications, and lifestyle adjustments.Safety and Compliance: Maintain a safe and clean environment adhering to infection control and regulatory standards such as The Joint Commission and OSHA. Participate actively in quality improvement initiatives and report safety hazards promptly.Documentation: Accurately document all patient care activities, interventions, and responses in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) following established patient care standards.Professional Development and Leadership: Mentor new graduate nurses, new hires, and students, support continuing education efforts, serve as a resource for telemetry best practices, and act as Relief Charge Nurse when needed.Emergency Preparedness: Respond promptly and effectively to cardiac emergencies such as arrhythmias and chest pain using advanced clinical skills.QualificationsExperience: Minimum two years as a Registered Nurse in telemetry or equivalent intermediate care settings. Transitional RN candidates must have two years in acute care or similar environments. Experience providing post-procedure care including post-cardiac catheterization, pacemaker insertion, and post-CABG care is required.Skills: Proficiency in ECG/EKG interpretation, arrhythmia recognition and management, and working with centralized cardiac monitoring systems. Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and communication skills are essential.Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with five years telemetry experience may be considered.Licenses and Certifications: Current RN license valid in the region, BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association, NIH Stroke Scale certification, and ONS Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate (for Progressive Care Unit). PCCN or CCRN certification preferred.Successful candidates must pass physical evaluation, drug screening, and background checks prior to employment.
