About the Position

Job Title: RN PACU Profession: Nursing Specialty: Post Anesthesia Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Registered Nurse Certifications: Must-Have: BLS ACLS PALS Critical care experience or PACU experience Description: The role involves working in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit. The unit has 10-11 beds with 5-6 nurses working daily. The typical patient ratio is 2:1. Staff shifts are from 0800-0830 for days and 0900-0930 for nights. Equipment used includes patient monitors, IV, EKG, and EMR. On-call requirement includes 5-6 shifts a month along with 2 weekend shifts. No floating is required in this position. Candidates must have critical care experience or PACU experience of more than 2 years. Typical procedures include removal of oral or nasal airways, oxygen titration, and bladder scanning. Other responsibilities include straight catheterization, ECG monitoring, blood glucose monitoring, and dressing reinforcement. Candidates must be proficient in specimen handling, airway management, and IV medication administration. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
