Job Summary:
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) specialty position located at a Level II Trauma Center. This role involves providing comprehensive care for a diverse patient population, primarily focusing on congenital heart defects, respiratory issues, neurological conditions, and post-surgical patients. The position requires a dedicated healthcare professional capable of managing complex medical scenarios in a fast-paced environment.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour shift times from 0700-1930 and 1900-0730, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); experience with PICU patients, including cardiac, respiratory, surgical, and medical diagnoses; at least 2 years of PICU experience with a minimum of 1 year in Pediatric Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (PCICU); EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) experience preferred.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with ECMO, peritoneal dialysis, and Prismax; familiarity with aseptic and sterile techniques, ventilator and trach management, and various central line and NG tube care.
• Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Congenital and acquired cardiac conditions, respiratory illnesses (including RSV, asthma, COVID), trauma, post-cath, neurological conditions, and post-surgical recoveries including thoracic and abdominal surgeries.
• Additional Information: Care includes management of ventilators, chest tubes, epidurals, PCA pumps, and drips. Floating responsibilities may include MedSurg, Emergency Department, or Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. No on-call duties, only standby during low census periods. The candidate must adhere to professional dress code, with long hair up and long sleeves that can be pulled above the elbows.
