Carpenter Leader

Duties As a Carpenter Leader, you will serve as a work leader for a group of three or more workers in the Carpenter Shop, Buildings & Grounds Section, Public Works Branch, and Facilities Engineering Division. Typical work assignments include: Leading three or more workers in the shop and in the field. Manufacturing, repairing, installing and troubleshooting a wide variety of structural systems and components, including doors, locks, locksets, lock cylinders, windows, interior and exterior trim, framework, rafters, finished paneling, cabinets, countertops, flooring, and beams. Exercising a high degree of initiative, expertise and competent judgment in determining the most appropriate work methods and procedures required to effect repairs. Key Requirements Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must be registered or exempt from the Selective Service. A one-year probationary period may be required. Must be reliable and trustworthy; all selected applicants must undergo and successfully pass a background investigation. Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver’s license. Subject to successful completion of a pre-employment medical exam. All Federal employees are required to have Federal salary payments made by direct deposit. Qualifications Ability to Lead or Supervise. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Includes Blueprint Reading). Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment. Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, and Repair. Knowledge of Materials. Measurement and Layout. Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic). Education This position does not have a positive education requirement.
