Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Pre/Post Day Surgery - PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Day, Evening Hours per Shift: 12 hours, Monday-Friday; 2 Fridays & 2 Mondays per schedule Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (All Must Be AHA) Must-Have: 1 year of experience in similar setting Description: The unit focuses on pre/post-operative care in the surgical recovery setting. Total bed capacity is 70. The recovery areas provide both Phase 1 and Phase 2 care. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:1 to 1:2 in Phase 1 and 1:3 in Phase 2. Common cases include orthopedic, ENT, ophthalmology, gynecology, urology, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, and podiatry. Registered Nurses are expected to read cardiac strips. Respiratory therapy equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, and ventilators. Intensive Care Unit patients are cared for in this area. There are perioperative care assistants available, maintaining a 1:7 ratio. The role includes a 12-hour call requirement during a 4-week schedule period. Floating to other units may be required as needed. The uniform policy dictates that OR scrubs are to be worn. Additional details include a rotation of holiday shifts during the winter and summer.
