Occupational Medicine Nurse Practitioner

A leading regional healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner for a locum tenens Occupational Medicine opportunity in Duluth, Minnesota. This assignment offers a predictable weekday schedule, strong clinical support, and the opportunity to work with a diverse employee and occupational health population.

Practice Setting

This outpatient occupational health clinic provides care for correctional officers, healthcare employees, and other workforce populations. Providers practice in a supportive environment focused on workplace health, injury management, fitness-for-duty evaluations, and regulatory examinations.

Clinical Responsibilities

Perform DOT physical examinations
Conduct pre-employment and return-to-work evaluations
Manage workers' compensation cases
Evaluate and treat occupational injuries
Perform minor procedures, including simple laceration repair and suturing
Manage musculoskeletal injuries
Complete FMCSA digital documentation requirements
Document patient encounters in EPIC

Schedule

Monday through Thursday
8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
30-minute lunch break
Approximately 32 clinical hours per week

Patient Volume & Support

Average 14-16 patients daily
Two dedicated CMAs onsite
Front-office registration support
Medical Director available for collaboration and consultation
Collaborative NP/PA team environment

Qualifications Required

Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner
Active DEA registration
DOT Medical Examiner Certification
Active Minnesota license or eligibility
Willingness to obtain Wisconsin licensure if needed
Minimum one year of Occupational Medicine experience
Experience performing:
- DOT physicals
- Pre-employment exams
- Workers' compensation evaluations
- Musculoskeletal injury management
- Minor suturing procedures

Preferred

Experience with EPIC
Previous occupational health or employee health experience
Multi-state licensure

Travel Information

Start Date: November 2026
Assignment Length: Approximately 5 months
