St. John Paul II Academy, a Catholic school serving students in grades 6–12 in Corpus Christi, Texas, seeks a detail-oriented and mission-driven Accounting Clerk to support the day-to-day financial and operational functions of the Academy. This role is essential to the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of the school’s financial operations and plays a key part in ensuring responsible stewardship of all resources in support of the Academy’s mission.The Accounting Clerk supports the financial operations of the Academy through accurate processing, recordkeeping, and system management. Working under the direction of the Finance & Operations Manager, this role ensures that financial transactions are executed properly, documentation is complete, and systems run smoothly.This position requires strong attention to detail, organization, and a commitment to excellence in both financial and operational responsibilities.Ministerial Character:The Diocesan Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church (“the Diocese”) entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as the Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people. He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.Key ResponsibilitiesThe list below reflects the general details considered necessary to describe the primary functions of the job identified and shall not be construed as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the job.As an integral part of the ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal lifeActs as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic ChurchContinuous growth in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directedProcess accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions with accuracy and timelinessPrepare and reconcile deposits and maintain detailed financial recordsEnter and manage financial data in accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, FACTS)Support tuition processing, including billing, payment tracking, and family communicationReconcile payment platforms (FACTS, Stripe, TEFA) to ensure accurate reportingMaintain audit-ready documentation for all financial transactionsAssist in preparing financial data for reports, audits, and budget processesSupport operational systems, including event payments and administrative workflowsAssist with HR administrative processes, including onboarding documentation and recordkeepingPerform other duties as assignedMental/Physical Demands:Ability to carry, pull, push, lift, or move objects 10 pounds or moreAbility to maintain composure under duress; maintain emotional control under stressMust maintain confidentialityRepetitive hand motions; use of computerRegular use of general office equipmentThe ideal candidate will demonstrate:Attention to detail – ensures accuracy and completeness in all financial recordsOrganization and reliability – manages multiple tasks while meeting deadlinesFinancial processing skills – comfortable working with transactions, systems, and documentationProfessional discretion – handles sensitive financial and personnel information with careService mindset – supports families, staff, and leadership with responsiveness and professionalismCommitment to mission – supports and reflects the values of Catholic educationMinimum Qualifications:Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred)Minimum of 2 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting support, or financial administrationExperience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial recordkeepingFamiliarity with financial systems such as QuickBooks, FACTS, Stripe, or similar platforms preferredStrong organizational and communication skillsAbility to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgmentValid Texas driver's license requiredMust be 21 years of age or olderAdditional Requirements:Must submit to employment required screenings including a criminal history background check, motor vehicle record check, and drug screeningCertification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office of Safe Environment and Child & Family ResourcesPosition requires adherence to Diocesan policies and proceduresTo Apply:Please complete the online application and submit a resume and letter of interest to the Superintendent of Schools.To be considered for employment with the Diocese of Corpus Christi locations, all interested individuals must complete the online application at #J-18808-Ljbffr
