About the Opportunity

We are partnering with a privately held manufacturing company in the Lake Mills, WI area seeking a Staff Accountant to join its accounting team.

This is a hands-on opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys taking ownership of their work and having exposure to multiple areas of the business. The position offers responsibilities beyond traditional Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including general ledger accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, and manufacturing-related accounting activities.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently in a smaller company environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and maintenance of accurate financial records.

• Lead month-end and year-end closing activities.
\n
• Complete bank and credit card reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and manage banking transactions.
\n
• Support cash management activities, including monitoring outstanding balances, vendor payments, and customer collections.
\n
• Assist with manufacturing accounting, including inventory reconciliations and cost-related reporting.
\n
• Prepare and file payroll-related tax reports, including Wisconsin withholding and federal quarterly filings.
\n
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and internal controls.
\n
• Provide backup support for AP/AR functions as needed and maintain familiarity with day-to-day accounting operations.
\n
• Work collaboratively with internal team members to resolve accounting issues and support financial operations.
\n

Qualifications

\n
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
\n
• 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience.
\n
• Strong foundation in general ledger accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.
\n
• Manufacturing accounting experience preferred but not required.
\n
• Experience with payroll tax filings and compliance.
\n
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software. QuickBooks Desktop experience is a plus.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
\n
• Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
\n
• Proactive personality with strong communication skills and a willingness to take initiative.
