Operating Room Registered NurseA confidential healthcare organization in the Westover Hills, TX area is seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse to support surgical services in a fast-paced acute care environment. The OR RN will provide direct perioperative nursing care, serve as a patient advocate during surgical procedures, and collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and other members of the perioperative team.This role is ideal for a registered nurse with strong operating room experience, sound clinical judgment, and the ability to maintain patient safety, sterile technique, and procedural efficiency across a variety of surgical cases.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide direct nursing care to surgical patients before, during, and immediately after operative procedures.Function as a circulating nurse in the operating room, ensuring patient safety, proper positioning, surgical counts, documentation, and coordination of intraoperative care.Assist with preparation of the operating room, equipment, supplies, and instrumentation based on scheduled procedures.Maintain strict adherence to sterile technique, infection prevention standards, and perioperative safety protocols.Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, surgical technologists, and ancillary staff to support efficient case flow.Monitor patient condition throughout the surgical procedure and respond appropriately to changes in status.Verify patient identity, surgical site, consent, allergies, implants, medications, and required documentation prior to procedure start.Participate in surgical time-outs, handoffs, and post-procedure communication.Document nursing assessments, interventions, counts, specimens, implants, medications, and patient responses accurately and timely.Support quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.Maintain competency in assigned surgical specialties, equipment, and emergency procedures.QualificationsActive Registered Nurse license in Texas or compact state required.BLS required.ACLS preferred or required based on facility standards.CNOR preferred but not required.Prior Operating Room / perioperative nursing experience strongly preferred.Acute care hospital experience preferred.Strong understanding of surgical asepsis, intraoperative nursing responsibilities, and perioperative patient safety standards.Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, team-based surgical environment.
