Job Title(s): Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) | Behavior Technician (BT)

Reports to: Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

Location: In-Home and/or Center-Based

Employment Type : Full Time, Part Time, Per Diem

Position Summary : Behavior Technicians (BTs) and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) provide direct Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services to children and families under the direction and supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). The BT/RBT implements individualized treatment and behavior support plans, collects accurate data, and collaborates with families and the clinical team to support each client’s goals and progress.

Schedule and Compensation

• $20–$30/hour , based on relevant experience and credentialing
• Training Rate: $16/hour
• Scheduling is based on assigned cases, authorized service hours, and family availability
• School Year: Primary service hours are approximately 3:30 PM–7:00 PM and weekends
• Summer: Service hours may be available between 9:00 AM–7:00 PM
• Opportunities for professional development, training, and supervision toward RBT certification

  Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 ABA services in accordance with each client’s individualized treatment plan and Behavior Support Plan (BSP), under the direction and supervision of the BCBA.
• Implement skill-acquisition and behavior-reduction programs, including reinforcement, prompting, and other ABA strategies as outlined in the treatment plan.
• Collect and accurately document client data, progress, observations, and session notes using required electronic systems.
• Monitor client response to interventions and promptly communicate progress, concerns, changes, or safety issues to the supervising BCBA.
• Support the generalization of skills across environments, people, and settings, including communication, social, adaptive, and other individualized goals.
• Collaborate professionally with clients, families, BCBAs, and other members of the clinical team while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
• Maintain consistent attendance, punctuality, and reliability for assigned cases and communicate scheduling concerns proactively.
• Participate in required training, supervision, competency development, and team meetings.
• Utilize required systems for documentation, data collection, scheduling, and billing, ensuring all records are accurate and completed within required timeframes.
• Maintain client safety, confidentiality, ethical standards, and compliance with Step Up policies, treatment protocols, and all applicable professional and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications :

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; related college education preferred. 
• Previous experience working with children, individuals with developmental disabilities, behavioral health, or ABA is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
• Strong communication, reliability, and ability to consistently follow individualized treatment plans and clinical direction. 
• Ability to work collaboratively with clients, families, BCBAs, and the clinical team. 
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel to assigned client homes, community settings, or Step Up centers as required. 
• Must meet all required background checks, fingerprinting, training, credentialing, and physical requirements of the position.

Credential Requirements

• Be havior Technician (BT):  RBT certification is not required at the time of hire. Candidates must successfully complete all Step Up training and competency requirements applicable to the position.
• Registered Behavior Technician (RBT):  Must hold and maintain an active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) and 

Work Environment

• In-home and/or center-based settings
• May involve working with clients who exhibit challenging behaviors including aggression, elopement, and self-injury
• Supervised regularly by a BCBA through direct observation, consultation, and performance feedback
