Lab Technician 2nd Shift

Ceramic Lab Technician – Level 1 Position Summary Use various handheld and bench mounted measuring devices to determine product quality. Measure, assess, and record data for a variety of processes and material production methods in a Ceramics lab. Essential Functions Cut and collect test coupons from thermal processes Conduct dimensional checks on kiln process control keys and test bars for multiple facilities Perform destructive tests for kiln process control and material certifications for multiple material mixes and for PCC foundries Operate XRD, dilatometry, MOR (modulus of rupture), and SAG equipment Enter test data into spreadsheets and/or databases Conduct calibration on process control equipment such as hydrometers and thermometers Must follow and adhere to all safety procedures Maintain department standards for housekeeping/6S Other duties as assigned by supervision Required Skills Must be able to read, write, and do basic mathematical problems Must be detail oriented and well organized Ability to work in a team-oriented environment Must be self-directed to accomplish goals with minimal supervision Must have good interpersonal skills for dealing with customers and internal employees Must be computer literate, familiarity with Excel a plus Experience & Education High school education is preferred Prior lab experience is preferred Physical Demands Not at All – 1% Infrequently – 1–33% Occasionally – 34–66% Frequently – 67–100% Continually – 1–2x hr. 1–2x hr. 3–6x hr. 7–30 hr. >30x hr.
