Pharmacy Technician

Title: Pharmacy Technician
Duration: 6 months + Possibility of Extension
Location: Vestal, NY 13850
Shift: Night shift is 4:30pm-1am weekdays and 9-5:30am every other weekend with mandatory OT as needed

Job Summary
The Pharmacy Technician supports pharmacy floor operations by accurately picking, labeling, scanning, and preparing prescriptions for final verification by a licensed pharmacist. This role plays a critical part in ensuring timely, safe, and compliant prescription fulfillment while adhering to established pharmacy procedures and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Accurately fill daily medication orders in a timely manner under the supervision of a pharmacist
Pick and pull medications from shelving and designated storage areas, including prepack racks
Label blister cards and prescription packages and scan products for accuracy verification
Prepare finished prescriptions for final pharmacist review
Assist with prepacking frequently ordered medications during low-volume periods; label and store appropriately
Package medications and related materials manually as required
Assist with processing returned medications and recycle or dispose of them according to established procedures
Alert the pharmacist on duty of any medication or product that fails scanning or accuracy checks
Maintain clean, organized workstation areas and replenish necessary stock and supplies
Follow all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA
Comply with departmental policies related to safety, attendance, and dress code
Work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required
Perform other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Required)

High School Diploma or equivalent
Ability to work at a moderate pace with accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
Possess and maintain a clear and active Pharmacy Technician license where required by state regulation

Note: Pharmacy Technician licensure is not required in New York State

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience as a pharmacy technician
Experience in a retail or long-term care pharmacy setting
