Medical Laboratory Scientist II - Miramar, FL Tuesday to Saturday, 12:00 AM to 8:30 AM Must hold an active Florida Clinical Laboratory License prior to start date. $10,000 sign‑on bonus for eligible external candidates. Relocation assistance will be considered. Pay range: $34.00+ per hour; shift differential of 10% for second shift and 15% for third shift may apply. Responsibilities Demonstrate proficiency in all areas of testing and troubleshoot applicable instruments and procedures. Provide support in quality control, troubleshooting, customer support, instrument maintenance, staff training, process improvement, and special projects. Perform and report assigned analytical tests per SOP, ensuring quality control requirements are met. Support and comply with laboratory policies for specimen handling, test analysis, reporting, and record maintenance. Adhere to analytical schedules to maintain turnaround time, including statistics or critical results. Verify reagents/test kits for received dates, expiration, and opened dates. Perform and document QC analysis; make quality‑control decisions. Inform supervisory personnel of all problems with test procedures. Report deviations and cooperate in investigations. Enter test results into the Laboratory Information System. Maintain laboratory areas and equipment in a safe, functional, and sanitary condition. Complete training and competency checklists as required. Assist supervisor with training of other personnel. Adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety requirements. Use protective equipment and controls as directed by management. Answer questions from clients or lab personnel, when applicable. Participate in governmental or regulatory inspections. Assume lead responsibilities in absence of a supervisor, if qualified and delegated. Other duties as assigned. Required Work Experience One (1) year full‑time experience or training in high‑complexity testing in a clinical laboratory setting. Preferred Work Experience Minimum three (3) years clinical experience, with most recent year in the present department. Physical and Mental Requirements May require lifting 1–10 lbs frequently; 11–25 lbs occasionally; 36–50 lbs seldom; over 50 lbs not without assistance. Ability to stand and work at bench for long periods. Frequent walking or standing. Use a variety of manual and automated pipettes and instruments requiring dexterity. Knowledge Comprehensive theoretical and operational knowledge in designated specialty. Knowledge of organizational and departmental policies. BS/BA in Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Biology, or an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology. Prior qualification under 42 CFR § 493.1433 (published 14 March 1990) acceptable. Foreign‑educated candidates must provide an IERF credential evaluation; U.S.‑educated candidates must provide an original transcript. Other state‑specific requirements may apply; check with local HR or QA departments. Skills Proven leadership and problem‑solving skills. Detail‑oriented; work independently; establish priorities; handle multiple tasks concurrently. Interpersonal skills to communicate with supervisors, co‑workers, and clients. Telephone inquiry handling and confidentiality skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Laboratory Information Systems. Education Associate’s Degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology (preferred). Bachelor’s Degree BS in Medical Technology, Biology, or Chemistry (preferred). Licenses and Certifications ASCP Certification (preferred).
