Truck Driver/Material Handler

Job Purpose Statement:The position is responsible for operating commercial vehicles, 26,000 lbs or more, and abide by all laws, federal, state, and local, pertaining to the operation of these vehicles.Summary of Responsibility:Safely drive operate commercial vehicles, 26,000 lbs or moreConduct inspections of trucks/trailers consisting of tire check, operation of lights, and damage.Safely operate material handling equipment, industrial trucks, hand trucks, and forkliftsTransport correct trailer to the dock door or to the yard utilizing yard jockeyDetect and report faulty operations and defective materials and packagingMaintain work equipment in a clean and orderly condition according to 5-SMaintain communication with the team to coordinate movement of materials necessary to ensure uninterrupted operation of production facilitiesMaintain required checks of power handling equipmentOther duties as assignedEducation, Experience and Skills Required:High School diploma or equivalent6 months experience operating commercial vehiclesEssential Functions:Effective written and verbal communication skillsAbility to maintain a Class A CDLAbility to bend, squat and kneel, frequentlyAbility to lift average weighted materials, 50 lbs or less; up to 70 lbs occasionallyPersonal Trait Profile:Ability to interface with employees and customersAbility to interpret instructionsAbility to adapt to changeAbility to problem solve and prioritize worka { text-decoration: none; color: #464feb;}tr th, tr td { border: 1px solid #e6e6e6;}tr th { background-color: #f5f5f5;}High School Diploma or GED required.Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with an acceptable driving record required.Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of experience operating commercial vehicles, trailers, or yard jockey equipment in a manufacturing, distribution, warehouse, or transportation environment preferred.Current forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification upon hire.Knowledge of DOT regulations, vehicle inspection requirements, and safe driving practices.Ability to safely maneuver trucks, trailers, and yard equipment in confined spaces and around pedestrians, equipment, and facilities.Familiarity with pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and basic equipment maintenance procedures.Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions, work orders, shipping documents, and safety procedures.Strong commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.Basic computer or handheld scanning device experience preferred.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining effective #J-18808-Ljbffr The Carlstar Group
