Staff Accountant

Hixen Search Group is seeking a Staff Accountant for a publicly traded company in Columbus. The successful candidate will be responsible for journal entries, reconciliations, preparation of monthly financial reports, monthly variance analysis and other various accounting duties. The Staff Accountant works with a team of other Accountants and will report to an Accounting Manager. He or she will be given the opportunity to grow and take on more responsibility over time. Responsibilities: Prepare journal entries and analyze payroll and benefits activity during month-end close Complete account reconciliation, research discrepancies and prepare supporting documentation Create reports and analyze direct labor and payroll expenses to support management decisions Review union payroll reporting and maintain year=to=date information for year-end reporting Maintain payroll expense reports and support documentation Use reporting tools to pull data for analysis, management reports, compliance and audits Support payroll accounting related to mergers and acquisitions to ensure accurate financial transactions Assist with other projects and responsibilities as needed Why This Opportunity: Company has outstanding culture Friendly, focused environment with great work-life balance and flexibility Very stable company with low turnover Leadership is good at developing people and encourages growth Excellent compensation and benefits/PTO Desired Candidate Profile: Bachelor’s degree in accounting 2-4 years’ accounting experience, preferably in payroll, benefits or payroll-related accounting Ability to interpret payroll and accounting reports Experience with business intelligence and reporting tools preferred Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills #J-18808-Ljbffr Hixen Search Group
