Job Summary and Responsibilities The Registered Nurse in the RN Neuro Critical Care team coordinates and delivers high‑quality, patient‑centered care in accordance with department requirements and the scope of practice. The RN collaborates with medical providers and the care team to provide individualized care using established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." The role includes advocacy for patients and families, documenting care, teaching medical and non‑medicinal self‑management strategies, and managing evidence‑based practice initiatives to enhance patient outcomes. Responsibilities Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner. Teach patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, status, treatment plan, medications, and possible side effects. Translate complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding. Teach patients/families/caregivers about non‑medicinal follow‑up measures such as healthy diet, exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes. Prepare patients and families/caregivers for future self‑management. Manage evidence‑based practices and continuous process improvement initiatives to meet and exceed quality measures. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate, evaluate, customize, and deliver a holistic patient treatment plan that promotes recovery. Qualifications Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Nurse Diploma. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of start date. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of start date. NIH Stroke Scale certification must be obtained within 30 days of start date.
