Job Title: Fabricator / Welder
Job Description
This role combines hands-on fabrication, MIG and TIG welding, and light mechanical work to build custom industrial ovens ranging from small benchtop units to large systems. You will read blueprints, measure and cut materials accurately, perform high-quality welds, and assist with insulating and assembling ovens throughout the shop. This position suits someone who enjoys variety in their day and takes pride in building specialized equipment from start to finish, not someone who wants to weld only.
Responsibilities
- Perform MIG and TIG welds on small to large industrial ovens, ensuring strong, clean, and consistent welds.
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to understand specifications, dimensions, and weld requirements.
- Use a tape measure and other measuring tools to lay out, fit, and verify components with high accuracy.
- Fabricate components by cutting, fitting, and preparing metal parts for welding and assembly.
- Assist with insulating ovens, including preparing materials and installing insulation according to build requirements.
- Support general assembly work around the shop, including building and assembling custom oven systems and related components.
- Operate hand tools and basic shop equipment safely and effectively during fabrication and assembly.
- Participate in machine setup and basic adjustments as needed to support fabrication and welding processes.
- Pass and maintain a welding test to demonstrate proficiency in MIG and TIG welding techniques.
- Follow shop safety procedures and quality standards, maintaining a clean and organized work area.
- Collaborate with team members to complete custom orders on time and to specification, taking pride in workmanship and avoiding shortcuts.
- Proficiency in MIG welding with the ability to produce consistent, structurally sound welds.
- Proficiency in TIG welding on relevant materials used in industrial oven fabrication.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings accurately.
- Hands-on fabrication experience, including fitting, cutting, and preparing metal components.
- Basic mechanical knowledge to support fabrication, assembly, and troubleshooting tasks.
- Ability to use a tape measure and other measuring tools accurately for layout and verification.
- Experience using hand tools commonly found in a fabrication and welding environment.
- Capability and willingness to perform both welding and non-welding tasks, including insulation and assembly work.
- Ability to pass a weld test demonstrating MIG and TIG skills.
- Experience with assembly work in a manufacturing or fabrication shop.
- Exposure to machine setup in a fabrication or welding environment.
- Welder certifications or documented welding credentials.
- Prior experience building special or custom equipment, particularly in low-volume or one-off production.
- Interest in learning new skills and expanding capabilities through on-the-job training and formal learning opportunities.
You will join a smaller, local shop backed by strong corporate resources, offering the stability of a larger organization with the close-knit feel of a family environment. The company is proud of its long-tenured workforce, with many employees staying for 5, 10, 15, and even 25 years, reflecting a culture of loyalty, pride, and mutual respect. You receive full insurance coverage immediately upon hire, along with a 401(k) plan that includes up to a 4% match and immediate vesting after six months. The company provides 15 paid holidays plus 2–3 floating holidays, supporting time off and work-life balance. Tuition and skill-learning reimbursement programs encourage continuous development, helping you grow your career while you work. The culture values people who care deeply about their craft, take pride in doing things the right way, and want to progress by learning and taking on new challenges.
Work Environment
The role is based in a small to medium-sized manufacturing shop with approximately 51 employees, focused entirely on custom orders rather than high-volume, repetitive production. You will work in a hands-on fabrication and welding environment that uses MIG and TIG welding equipment, hand tools, measuring tools such as tape measures, and basic fabrication machinery. The shop fosters a tight-knit, family-style culture where people know each other well, take pride in their work, and expect high standards with low tolerance for cutting corners. There is clear opportunity for upward mobility for those who express interest, demonstrate initiative, and actively seek to learn more. The environment emphasizes quality craftsmanship, collaboration, and long-term commitment, with many employees building their careers and retiring from the company.
