Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery - Night Shift

Hourly Pay Range $36.00 - $55.80 – The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors. Sign on Bonus $25,000 – To be eligible for the sign on bonus, a candidate must have 18 months Labor and Delivery experience. Position Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery – Night Shift Location: Evanston Hospital, Evanston IL Full Time/Part Time: Full Time – 36 hours per week Hours: 1900-0730, with weekend rotation Call: one shift per six week schedule Required Travel: n/a A Brief Overview The Registered Nurse will deliver safe and compassionate nursing care for all patient populations by planning, implementing, and evaluating the patient plan of care. The Registered Nurse collaborates with nurses, physicians, and other members of the clinical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and continuity of care. Responsibilities Develop a plan of care that identifies interventions to achieve expected outcomes. Evaluate patient’s progress toward attainment of outcomes, systematically revise diagnosis, interventions, and expected outcomes as needed. Provide patient assessment and collection of health data involving patient, family and other health care providers. Communicate plan of care to patient and family regularly, respecting the patient’s wishes, acknowledging patient/family perceptions of health and illness, and setting mutual goals for optimal outcomes. Communicate patient data to physician and interdisciplinary team as indicated. Document patient health data, interventions, and communications. Individualize patient and family teaching based on thorough assessment to meet their specific learning needs. Assess patient’s cultural background, learning style, learning barriers, and modify teaching plan accordingly. Provide teaching on disease management strategies, emergency care, and drug information when appropriate. Identify community resources to support patient self‑management of disease. Interact with and contribute to professional development of peers, students and other health care providers. Share knowledge, provide feedback, and contribute to an environment supportive of clinical education. Assign or delegate tasks as needed. Nurture a compassionate environment by providing psychological support. Assist technical staff with injection of contrast, venipuncture, and administration of drugs, oxygen therapy, and IV management. Participate in performance improvement activities and nursing research. Keep abreast of research and practice trends in wound/ostomy/skin care through participation in professional networking, ongoing education, and self‑directed learning activities. Support staff in using research and providing evidence‑based care. If skilled, conduct daily rounds of wound/ostomy/skin care patients. Monitor effectiveness of wound/ostomy treatment plans and other aspects of wound/ostomy/skin care. Comply with HIPAA regulations. Assist in the transporting of acutely ill patients as needed. Qualifications License: Current professional Nursing Licensure in the State of IL required. Education: Graduate of an NLN accredited school of nursing required; BSN strongly preferred. Certification: BLS/CPR Certification for the Healthcare Provider required from the American Heart Association. Experience: 2 years Labor and Delivery or acute care nursing experience strongly preferred. Unique or Preferred Skills: Labor and Delivery Experience preferred.
