About the Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe and effective patient and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes. The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit and promoting personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education. The RN supervises both licensed and non-licensed staff members. Applying the caring processes of the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care, the RN is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care. The RN focuses on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction. The RN applies educational and professional experiences to deliver quality care and mentor or precept staff. Responsibilities include performing assessments and reassessments per policy or as warranted by patient condition. The RN demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions. The RN initiates, prioritizes, implements, and revises the plan of care as indicated. Collaboration with patient, family, and interdisciplinary services occurs regularly. The RN utilizes resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization, patient, and family. Monitoring and documenting responses to clinical interventions are also part of the RN's role. Facilitation, coordination, and provision of education specific to patient and family needs are essential. The RN participates in leadership by delegating tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel. The RN functions as a mentor and preceptor, demonstrating, encouraging, and facilitating teamwork. Identifying and communicating opportunities for improvement is crucial. The RN participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts and implements practice changes. Compliance with regulatory standards is required. The RN actively participates in the Practice Governance model. Required skills include acute care nursing, patient assessment, care plan development, care plan implementation, and clinical intervention monitoring. Additional skills include patient education, mentoring, teamwork, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance. Required education includes a nursing diploma or an associate degree in nursing.
