About the Role We're looking for a highly skilled Senior Packaging & Retail Production Designer to join our creative team. You're a designer who loves the details as much as the big picture, with deep expertise in packaging artwork, prepress, and retail visual merchandising. You take pride in transforming complex packaging requirements into flawless final artwork, with files that are as beautifully constructed as the designs themselves. Your work will range from routine packaging updates and adapting artwork to new dielines, to creating packaging for new product launches, retail displays, promotional materials, influencer mailers, and kits. You have strong creative instincts, but don't need to be the person setting the overall creative vision. You enjoy bringing ideas to life, refining every detail until they're ready for the shelf. You're resourceful, highly technical, and curious about better ways of working, embracing AI and automation to elevate your craft and improve efficiency. This is a hands-on, execution-focused individual contributor role. With a steady pipeline of packaging and retail projects, the majority of your time will be spent actively designing, adapting, and finalizing artwork. We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys this work and finds satisfaction in precision, consistency, and beautifully executed results. What You’ll Do Packaging Design & Production Manage daily packaging artwork updates, including copy changes, ingredient lists, claims, regulatory information, and product details. Adapt existing designs to new dielines, sizes, and formats while maintaining brand consistency. Create packaging artwork for new product launches, line extensions, and innovative formats following established brand guidelines. Build and finalize Illustrator mechanical files, ensuring accurate dimensions, bleeds, color separations, spot colors, overprints, and prepress specifications. Proof artwork against approved copy, specifications, and printer requirements before release. Collaborate with our Korea team and manufacturing partners to resolve dieline, artwork, and production issues. Review digital and physical proofs, making adjustments to ensure print quality and color consistency. Maintain organized working files and final mechanicals with clear version control and archiving. Retail Design & Visual Merchandising Design retail merchandising materials including endcaps, shelf strips, trays, PDQs, shippers, box talkers, promotional signage, and custom displays. Develop compelling graphics and product layouts that highlight key benefits and capture shoppers' attention. Adapt retail creative to retailer specifications, display dimensions, product assortments, and promotional requirements. Prepare vendor-ready artwork using approved dielines and structural specifications. Design influencer mailers, promotional kits, product bundles, and special projects. Collaborate with Creative, Marketing, Sales, and external vendors to bring retail executions to life. Mockups, Renderings & Prototyping Create realistic digital renderings and mockups of packaging, retail displays, and promotional materials for presentations, concept reviews, and launch decks. Construct physical packaging and display mockups for in-person reviews, evaluating scale, structure, and artwork placement. Develop presentation visuals that communicate design concepts, product assortments, and merchandising executions. AI, Technology & Workflow Optimization Leverage AI tools to accelerate renderings, mockups, and creative visualization while maintaining brand accuracy. Integrate AI and automation to streamline packaging artwork updates, preflight, and mechanical file preparation. Identify and adopt new tools that improve efficiency, accuracy, and production quality. Creative Collaboration & Brand Excellence Partner with the Creative Director and cross-functional teams to execute design direction across packaging and retail touchpoints. Maintain brand consistency and attention to detail across all deliverables. Manage multiple concurrent projects while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality. Stay informed about innovations in packaging, printing, retail merchandising, and production technology. Experience & Qualifications 6+ years of experience in packaging design, artwork production, prepress, and retail or print production, ideally within beauty, personal care, wellness, or CPG. Expert-level Adobe Illustrator proficiency , including complex packaging mechanicals, dielines, and prepress preparation. Thorough understanding of packaging workflows, printing processes, color management, and manufacturing requirements. Experience designing and producing retail displays, from shelf-level elements to large-scale fixtures. A portfolio demonstrating strong design sensibility and technically sophisticated packaging and retail work. Own packaging artwork file organization and file management on GDrive. Strong typography, layout, color, and brand design skills. Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, including photo editing, compositing, and product visualization. Experience with AI-powered creative tools and enthusiasm for emerging technologies. Interpersonal Skills You take pride in producing accurate, high-quality work and catching the small things that make a big difference. You are comfortable communicating clearly and effectively with team members at all levels, whether through email, reports, or face-to-face conversations. You are skilled at staying organized, meeting deadlines, taking ownership of your work, and operating independently with minimal oversight. Ability to independently manage multiple projects and solve technical challenges under tight deadlines. You are always ready to pitch in, support your teammates, and contribute wherever needed to help the team succeed. Position Details Anticipated base compensation range: $90,000–$110,000 annually. Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s prior experience and local market rates. Job Type: Full-time Work arrangement: This is a hybrid role based in Culver City, California, and currently requires one day per month in the office.
