Mechanical Engineer – Dallas, TX WSP is currently initiating a search for a Mechanical Engineer for our Dallas, TX office. Be involved in projects with our Property and Buildings Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges. Responsibilities With minimal supervision, assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings for project development, design, and construction. Perform basic professional mechanical engineering work relating to research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, and building systems to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and permits. Assist with the development of technologies, monitoring devices, modeling techniques, design requirements, load calculations, and operating strategies to ensure proper installation and functioning of equipment and systems according to specifications. Verify characteristics of a site and provide technical assistance on engineering, design, and construction issues related to automatic temperature control systems, air distribution, hydronic systems, and plumbing systems. Write technical reports summarizing research and specifications with findings and conclusions, generating complete, accurate, and concise documentation using sketches, calculations, electronic systems, spreadsheets, technical drawings, and software. Assist technical staff and project managers with risk identification and assessment, offering input and analysis with design concepts, construction, mitigation and improvement activities, and remediation projects. Work with cross‑functional teams to execute project work. Assist with work plan preparation and coordination of field/site work and permitting. Complete training on assigned tasks. Work collaboratively with other engineers and planners on projects with building and infrastructure authorities on federally, state, regional, and locally funded improvement and development projects. Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline. 1 to 3 years of relevant post‑education experience. Familiarity with mechanical engineering principles, practices, and application to project work. Familiarity with building and infrastructure planning, design, and construction management; including rehabilitation and new design. Strong knowledge of relevant mechanical system and construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record‑keeping requirements. Analytical mindset with sound judgment for evaluating situations and making decisions. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to express ideas effectively to engineering and non‑engineering audiences. Self‑leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi‑tasking, and prioritization in a dynamic work environment. Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools. Experience with discipline‑specific design software such as Revit and AutoCAD. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team to meet business objectives. Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and compliance with WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol policies. Ability to work schedules conducive to project‑specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek. Occasional travel may be required depending on project‑specific requirements. Preferred Qualifications Engineer in Training certification. Prior design experience. Experience in healthcare design. Active member of or participation in local professional practice organizations. Compensation Expected Salary (all locations): $76,200 - $104,720 WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
