Executive Director

The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of the organization and is responsible for providing strategic leadership, operational oversight, financial management, regulatory compliance, and community engagement. The Executive Director works closely with the Board of Directors to advance the organization’s mission, ensure long-term sustainability, and foster a positive organizational culture. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide visionary leadership to achieve the organization’s mission, strategic goals, and objectives. Develop and implement strategic plans approved by the Board of Directors. Oversee daily operations, ensuring programs and services are delivered effectively and efficiently. Ensure compliance with state and local laws as well as Medicaid, vocational, rehabilitationaccreditation, and funding agency requirements Develop, monitor, and manage the organization’s annual operating budget. Ensure sound financial management and stewardship of organizational resources. Supervise, mentor, and evaluate department directors and senior management staff. Recruit, develop, and retain qualified employees while promoting a positive workplace culture. Establish and maintain policies and procedures that support organizational excellence. Build and maintain relationships with community partners, government agencies, donors, and stakeholders. Represent the organization at public meetings, conferences, and community events. Identify opportunities for organizational growth, funding, grants, and strategic partnerships. Prepare reports and recommendations for the Board of Directors regarding operations, finances, and strategic initiatives. Promote quality improvement, risk management, and organizational accountability. Ensure the organization maintains the highest standards of ethics, integrity, and transparency. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Human Services, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible executive or senior leadership experience. Experience in nonprofit management preferred. Demonstrated experience in budgeting, financial management, strategic planning, and organizational leadership. Strong knowledge of employment laws, nonprofit governance, and regulatory compliance. Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to build collaborative relationships with staff, community partners, and governing boards. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to travel locally and occasionally out of the area for meetings and conferences. Ability to use standard office equipment and computer systems. Working Conditions Primarily office environment with occasional travel. Will require evening or weekend meetings and events. May respond to emergencies outside normal business hours. Preferred Experience (Human Services/Nonprofit) Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Knowledge of Medicaid Waiver services, state licensing requirements, and nonprofit funding. Experience working with a Board of Directors and government agencies. Proven success in fundraising, grant development, and community partnerships.
