Benefits Competitive salary Flexible schedule Training & development General Summary and Purpose The Qualified Behavioral Health Specialist means an individual who has received training for or education in either mental health or substance use disorder competencies; and who has demonstrated, prior to or within ninety (90) days of hire. The QBHS will walk the client step‑by‑step through the process needed to assist the client when meeting their needs. The QBHS will provide community‑based services and will meet the client where the client is working on tools and strategies to cope with their specific needs. QBHS will also work with groups of individuals. Essential Job Functions Provide a safe space for the expression of anxieties and exploration and sharing of experience. Demonstrate appropriate communication and facilitation skills. Promote a consensus‑building approach where every member has a say in the structure of the group. Maintain confidentiality and respect the individual needs of the client members. Develop and support the activities for the Group. Maintain Health and Safety of the individual/group ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to. Monitor the suitability of the premises for the purpose of the group. Seek alternative arrangements should the premises become unsuitable. Skills/Abilities Required Good facilitation skills. Knowledge and understanding of mental health and substance use/abuse issues. Previous experience or working in a supportive role. An understanding of group dynamics and group processes. Ability to maintain professional boundaries. Ability to deal appropriately and professionally with possible crises. Good verbal and written communication skills. Good listening skills. A non‑judgmental approach. Knowledge of other support organizations and resources within Columbus, Ohio. Good basic working knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office. Good working knowledge of inputting data into a electronic health records system and billing processes. Other Job Requirements H.S. Diploma Ohio Peer Supporter/Peer Specialist Certified Experience with mental health/drug and alcohol, and/or crisis intervention services preferred. Basic computer, telephone, and exceptional customer service skills required. Maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications. If CPR & First Aid certification isn’t in possession at time of hire, it must be obtained within 6 months. Must maintain a current professional licenses status. Maintain productivity standards set forth by the agency. Physical Requirements Must be physically able to operate a variety of automated office machines and equipment including, but not limited to, computer and printers, fax machine, copier, calculator, and telephone. In most cases, physical demand requirements are standing and walking more than 80%; sitting more than 25%; some lifting, carrying, pushing, and / or pulling of light to moderate weight materials (less than thirty pounds) and occasionally bending/stooping. Work Environment Must have physical and mental stamina and be able to perform successfully under time‑limited pressure. Regular office hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. Must have the flexibility and willingness to adjust the schedule occasionally in order to accommodate programmatic needs. Exposure to Hazards Worker is subject to inside environmental conditions on a frequent basis with moderate noise. Typical working conditions are found in most administrative work areas. Worker has contact with consumers and other staff and may be exposed to medical conditions presented by them.
