May supply information to callers and record messages.Responsibilities:Answers, transfers, and directs incoming calls using all resources available. Provides directory assistanceReceives Emergency Calls and initiates procedures specific to the type of emergencyMonitors alarm panels for generators, medical gas, and refrigeration system and appropriately initiates response to alarmsCheck in surgical patientsMonitors secure front entrance and screen non-employees requesting entry after normal business hoursProvides quality customer service and accurate information to internal and external customersPerforms alphanumeric pagingOverhead pagingAnswering Service Responsibilities: Documents calls, contacts providers, sends messages and follows up as appropriateSorts mail. Forwards mail to accurate departmentProvides instructions and directions to patients, patients' families, and visitorsMaintains all informational reference lists. For example, switchboard census, phone lists, pager listings, etc.Other duties as assignedEducation:High School Diploma or GED, requiredExperience:Minimum 1 year experience in healthcare setting as a receptionist or switchboard operator, preferredPhysical Requirements:Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 lbs of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
