Job Title: Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Medical-Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour rotation (Day/Night) Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent nursing experience in a large hospital setting with 250+ beds License: RN license in North Dakota or compact state Certifications: BLS certification (must be AHA) Must-Have: Min 2 years of recent nursing experience in a large hospital setting Level 1 trauma experience Travel experience (will not consider candidates currently on their first travel assignment) EPIC experience Willingness to float to all Medical-Surgical units as needed Description: The position involves collaborating with other inter-professional colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. Candidates must demonstrate competency and practice within the full scope of nursing expertise and utilize appropriate age and population-specific standards in their assigned clinical setting. The unit has a total of 32 inpatient beds dedicated to adult medical-surgical patients, as well as patients experiencing behavioral disturbances. All rooms are private and equipped with individual bathrooms and safety equipment for patient mobility. The role will involve caring for a wide variety of medical/surgical patients, including those with behavioral issues. Equipment utilized in this role includes EMR-Epic, telemetry units, monitors, bladder scanners, and medication dispensing systems. Candidates should have at least 1 year of medical-surgical experience in a large, busy hospital environment. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 5:1 on days and 6:1 on nights. All staff must badge in and out upon entering or exiting the facility. Scrub color required for the position is navy blue. Travelers cannot reside within a certain radius from the facility. Previous employees must have a separation period of 6 months prior to reapplication. Floating to other units or departments may be required. The schedule is self-managed, but staff are only guaranteed the days off specified in their contract. Unit needs may require staff to adjust their self-scheduled shifts. Candidates who are requested to switch shifts must work collaboratively with other staff to ensure coverage. The overall nursing team is committed to creating a balanced schedule to minimize frequent day-to-night shifts for staff.
