Job Description

This role focuses on operating a single digital production machine within a large, climate-controlled printing facility. You will set up and monitor a Tecnau digital press, ensuring it runs smoothly and produces accurate, high-quality output. The work involves loading paper rolls using a rolling mechanism (no heavy lifting), entering orders into the computer, watching the product run through the machine, and then counting and stacking finished items. The position is primarily standing, requires basic computer use, and includes light lifting of up to 20 lbs on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate one assigned digital Tecnau machine according to production requirements.
• Load paper rolls at the front of the machine using the rolling mechanism, ensuring proper alignment and feed without manual heavy lifting.
• Enter production orders and job specifications into the computer interface accurately.
• Monitor the machine during operation to ensure it runs correctly and consistently.
• Visually inspect products as they come off the machine to maintain quality standards.
• Count finished products accurately and stack them neatly at the end of the machine line.
• Perform light lifting of up to 20 lbs on a regular basis when handling finished products and materials.
• Remain on your feet for most of the shift while observing and attending to the machine.
• Follow established production, packaging, and general labor procedures to keep work flowing efficiently.
• Communicate any machine issues promptly so the onsite Tecnau technician can address breakdowns or malfunctions.
• Use basic computer functions such as opening files and emails to access job information and instructions.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area in line with facility standards and frequent client tours.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines, including proper attire and awareness around moving machinery.
• Support overall production operations by collaborating with coworkers and assisting with related tasks as needed.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of continuous employment with a single company, demonstrating reliability and commitment.
• Positive references confirming strong attendance and dependability in previous roles.
• Ability to stand for most of an 8-hour 1st shift (7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.).
• Capability to perform light lifting of up to 20 lbs on a regular basis.
• Comfort working in a loud, busy production environment with multiple machines running.
• Ability to count accurately (for example, counting finished products in small batches).
• Basic computer skills, including the ability to operate a computer, open PDF files, and access emails.
• Willingness to follow safety protocols and dress code requirements in a production setting.
• Consistent, reliable attendance and punctuality.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous printing experience, including press, digital, or flexographic (flexo) printing, is a plus.
• Experience in production, general labor, packaging, or machine operation environments is beneficial.
• Interest in learning multiple machines and cross-training across different departments.
• Motivation to grow within the company through performance-based advancement.
• Strong attention to detail when monitoring machinery and counting finished products.

Work Environment

This is a 1st shift position, working from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in a large, clean, and well-lit production facility. The environment is air conditioned in the summer, heated in the winter, and humidity controlled to protect paper quality. Multiple machines operate simultaneously, creating a loud but organized production floor that hosts frequent client tours, so cleanliness and tidiness are emphasized. You will primarily work standing at your assigned Tecnau digital machine, using a computer interface and handling printed materials. Dress code requirements include close-toed shoes, no long or dangly items that could be caught in machinery (such as loose hair or sweatshirt strings, which must be tied back or secured), no dangly jewelry, and no clothing or caps with profanity, in order to maintain safety and a professional appearance.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hartland, WI.

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
