More About the Opportunity We are hoping you will join us as a Communications Specialist and help shape the future of healthcare where you'll be an integral part of our Communications team, helping to strive for excellence while we serve our member health with dignity, respecting the value and needs of each of our members through collaboration with our providers, community partners and local stakeholders. This position has been approved to be Partial Telework. - If telework is approved, you are required to work within the State of California only and if Partial Telework, also come in to the Main Office in Orange, CA, at least two (2) days per week minimum. The Communications Specialist will provide communications support to ensure effective internal communication to CalOptima Health employees and external communication to the public via social media. Together, we are building a stronger, more equitable health system. Your Contributions To the Team: 55% - Internal Communications Participates in a mission-driven culture of high-quality performance, with a member focus on customer service, consistency, dignity, and accountability. Assists the team in carrying out department responsibilities and collaborates with others to support short- and long-term goals/priorities for the department. Works with internal departments to identify timely topics and key information for employee-facing communications. Writes articles, gathers photos and compiles/designs content for weekly news email, monthly staff e-newsletter and other publications; upholds deadlines and prioritizes accuracy for these widely visible resources. Serves as the primary Communications department contact to handle service requests from internal clients related to employee-facing documents, such as recognition weeks, benefits information and HR material. Provides counsel on and reviews communication pieces, aiming to ensure the consistency of the CalOptima Health style, brand and messages. Cultivates collaborative relationships with staff and leaders across the organization to stay informed about important activities and initiatives to be featured in employees communications. Takes photos of on-site employee activities/events and signature CalOptima Health community events. 40% - Social Media Plans the weekly and monthly social media calendars in consultation with the supervisor. Manages content creation, including developing graphics, writing captions, submitting for review/approval, and posting daily content on social media sites. Monitors social media channels daily for public comments and forwards them to the appropriate internal leader if escalation is required. Collaborates with the Communications department videographer to develop social media video content on a regular basis. Gathers social media metrics into a monthly dashboard to monitor performance and adjust strategies as necessary to build followers and engagement. Researches social media trends and brings creative ideas for the continuous improvement of CalOptima Health’s digital presence. 5% - Other Completes other projects and duties as assigned. Do You Have What the Role Requires? Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism or related field PLUS 2 years of professional writing experience or Communications Specialist-level work required; an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position such as those listed above may also be qualifying. 1 year of social media experience in Facebook, Instagram, X and LinkedIn operations. Our current hiring range is: Pay Grade: 306 - $58,205 - $90,217 ($27.98 - $43.3736). The final salary offered will be based on education, job-related knowledge and experience, skills relevant to the role and internal equity among other factors.
