What you will do As an HVAC Controls Lead Systems Specialist you act as the on‑site project leader to plan, execute, and complete projects with assigned customers in a safe and cost‑effective manner. You perform or delegate tasks required to fully complete assigned projects, including hardware design, system programming, installation coordination, system and network commissioning, and project closeout. You are responsible for the overall financial results of assigned projects—including costs, project billings, and collections—while maintaining customer satisfaction and profitable, accurate project financial results. You actively pursue selling change orders, coordinate communication with the customer during all phases of the project, ensure proper execution of warranty, and provide work direction to subcontractors, electrical installers, technicians, designers, and administration as necessary. You ensure all work is performed in compliance with the AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) and applicable local, state and federal legal requirements, and operate on the job with the highest of ethics. Adherence to Johnson Controls safety standards and support for subcontractors’ safety practices are essential. How you will do it Complete typical installation hardware design and software programming using established standards. Provide detailed information to communicate design and operation to customers, Johnson Controls staff and subcontractors. Actively pursue additional work through change orders. Evaluate the contractual scope of work and the impact of client‑issued bulletins, field directives, and scheduling changes. Communicate both technical and business related issues with the clients. Manage the selection, ordering, budget and delivery schedule of materials for the projects via our web‑based tool process. Secure pricing and availability from outside vendors and suppliers, mechanical and electrical subcontractors, with scope, terms and conditions. May request several bids in the pricing process. Oversee subcontractor payment and billing processes. Provide jobsite coordination for panel and field device physical locations. Ensure installation is in accordance with Johnson Controls standards and project requirements. Manage and complete the loading, device verification and commissioning of all system controllers as required. Validate complete system functionality and resolve issues with subcontractors and others to ensure proper operation. Provide accurate project as‑built and commissioning documentation. Manage costs, billings and collections. Complete project billings in a timely and accurate format to the client. Maintain profitability goals and positive cash flow through best business practices and continuous improvement metrics. Provide coaching, mentoring and technical assistance to System Technicians, Electrical Installers and System Designers. Provide technical assistance to subcontractors. Ensure that delegated tasks are done accurately, on‑time, billed, within budget and within scope of the contract. Effectively communicate the status of projects to management as required and provide monthly forecasts of revenue, costs, and gross margin. Send warranty letter to JCI customer upon substantial completion of project and ensure proper execution of warranty. Develop project plans and coordinate the required resources to ensure timely and cost‑effective installation and completion of assigned projects. Perform site‑specific training for owner/operator on the total system in full or with assistance. Ensure owner/operator has been trained. Provide proper documentation and manuals for system operation. Develop and maintain viable long‑term relationships with contractors, clients, consultants and subcontractors. Attend job progress meetings as required. Coordinate with Project Engineers on bundled jobs to deliver cost‑efficient solutions that exceed customer expectations. Follow all safety standards and have the highest regard for employee and subcontractor safety. Qualifications Technical Associate’s Degree with two years of field experience or equivalent related field experience. Applicable Building Automation Systems design and commissioning experience. Appropriate licensing, certifications and relevant hands‑on experience. Demonstrate the ability to perform work independently. Strong personal computer skills. Knowledge of project accounting, costing principles and contracting preferred. Compensation and Bonus HIRING SALARY RANGE: $70‑91k (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data).
