Foster Grandparent Program Outreach Specialist

Catholic Charities of Buffalo is seeking a full-time Outreach Specialist for the Foster Grandparent Program. The Outreach Specialist is responsible for planning and implementing volunteer recruitment and community outreach initiatives that support the growth of the Foster Grandparent Program. The incumbent conducts presentations, attends outreach and recruitment events, develops partnerships with community organizations, and promotes volunteer opportunities. This position focuses on increasing program visibility, recruiting eligible volunteers, and fostering relationships with volunteer stations, referral agencies, and community stakeholders to enhance the program's success and impact.

Job Responsibilities

• Knows and supports Catholic Charities of Buffalo NY mission, vision, and guiding principles.
• Coordinates Foster Grandparent volunteer assignments, including assisting volunteer station staff in developing volunteer assignment plans and activities.
• Conducts regular site visits to volunteer stations to monitor volunteer satisfaction, assignment effectiveness, and progress toward established program objectives.
• Recruits, orients, and supports volunteers throughout the onboarding process.
• Co-facilitate volunteer orientations, in-service trainings, and other educational opportunities to enhance volunteer skills and knowledge.
• Recruits volunteers and volunteer stations through community outreach, networking, referrals, and public presentations.
• Maintains active involvement with community organizations, networks, and the Foster Grandparent Program Community Advisory Council.
• Represents the program at public education forums, health fairs, community events, and public speaking engagements.
• Promotes community awareness and involvement in the Foster Grandparent Program.
• Assists with program events, volunteer recognition activities, special events, trips, meetings, and related activities.
• Composes routine correspondence and program-related materials; maintains filing systems and recordkeeping processes.
• Incorporates Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) principles into all program responsibilities.
• Develops and implements recruitment strategies to attract and retain qualified Foster Grandparent volunteers.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Geriatrics, Marketing, or a related field required. Bachelor's Degree preferred. Individuals with significant experience working with older adults and/or volunteer programs may qualify at the discretion of the agency.
• One (1) year of experience working directly with older adults, volunteer coordination, community engagement, or a related field required.
• Demonstrated experience in volunteer recruitment engagement and training is required.
• Experience collaborating with community organizations and networks preferred.
• Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and basic data entry.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple responsibilities while meeting deadlines.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and decision-making while maintaining effective communication with agency leaders.
• Ability to travel throughout the City of Buffalo and first-ring suburbs.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Valid New York State driver's license and reliable transportation.
