To produce radiographs to customer and PCC specifications for evaluation of castings. Responsibilities Set up castings for radiography according to Technique Cards and customer specifications. Check routing or requests to determine x‑ray needs on parts. Review Technique Cards for setup requirements, including x‑ray techniques, part positions, and Film/IP requirements. Set up additional radiographs of defect areas not covered by Technique Cards. Inspect condition and maintain Film/IP and cassettes, following proper handling techniques. Arrange castings on tables in x‑ray machines, including fixturing, placement of Film/IPs, DICOM tag identification, and exposure parameters. Determine priority of radiographs to be taken. Develop best‑practice setup requirements for newly developed techniques when needed. Visually inspect castings for dirt, penetrant, grinding debris, etc. Operate x‑ray machine control panels and equipment to take multiple views of castings, adjusting tube height, voltage, and exposure times within customer specifications. Maintain and generate exposures for System Qualifications on X‑ray equipment per customer and PCC specifications. Conduct more than one radiographic examination concurrently and operate all machines. Remove Film/IP from castings for image processing while maintaining proper handling techniques. After image processing, check samples of radiographs for artifacts, clarity, coverage, pixel value, and sensitivity; adjust within specifications, record changes, and reshoot exposures if needed. Participate in audits by PCC internal and external auditing groups (NDTE, NADCAP, ISO 9000, etc.). Train, mentor, and assist less skilled radiographers with setup and operational techniques. Complete logs and records, and document any modifications to Technique Card specifications. Meet all production and quality standards. Adhere to plant and department safety rules, safely operate all equipment and tools, and identify and report safety problems. Perform other tasks as directed and other x‑ray department personnel activities. Radiography Level 1 courses (radiation safety, digital method training, etc.) must be completed. Radiographer Level 1 certification must be completed for all modalities (Film, CR, DDA). Level 1 re‑certification is required every five years. Qualifications Radiography skills demonstrated by competent performance of all duties or equivalent training and experience. High school graduation or GED (required for NDT certification). Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division). Ability to read, follow, and interpret Technique Cards, Quality Control Manuals, and other technical specifications. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Physical ability to perform essential job functions. Required Skills Radiography skills as demonstrated by competent performance of all duties. High school graduation or GED.
