In this onsite role, you will support both retail pharmacy and specialty pharmacy operations, working closely with patients, providers, and pharmacy staff to create a seamless healthcare experience.This is an excellent opportunity for a pharmacist who thrives in a fast-paced environment, values clinical excellence, and enjoys making a meaningful impact on patients' lives.Job PurposeProvides integrated support to patients and physicians through a hands-on approach to total quality patient care by coordinating across specialty and retail pharmacy services to ensure seamless patient transitions and timely access to medications.The Pharmacist will be responsible for managing both retail and specialty pharmacy operations, ensuring the safe and effective dispensing of medications while providing patient counseling, clinical support, and operational oversight.Key ResponsibilitiesClinical & Patient CarePrepare and dispense medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders and identifying therapeutic incompatibilities.Conduct medication therapy management, including reviewing and monitoring medication regimens, advising clinicians on evidence-based therapies, and documenting interventions.Provide patient counseling and clinical support to promote optimal treatment outcomes.Make referrals to other healthcare professionals when appropriate.Pharmacy OperationsOrganize and direct technician workflow while verifying medication preparation, labeling, and prescription accuracy.Coordinate care activities, identify and resolve insurance-related issues, and recognize opportunities for financial assistance programs.Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements, including: 340B Program ComplianceSpecialty Pharmacy Accreditation StandardsMedication Safety ProtocolsMaintain pharmacy records and controlled substance documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements.Remove outdated and damaged medications from inventory and oversee compliance procedures.Leadership & Process ImprovementSupervise and support pharmacy technicians and other support personnel.Train pharmacy staff, students, interns, externs, residents, and healthcare professionals.Manage, organize, and update data using pharmacy and database applications.Identify trends, resolve operational challenges, recommend improvements, and implement positive change.Actively participate in process improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, and customer service excellence.Compliance & Professional DevelopmentComply with all state and federal pharmacy regulations, DEA requirements, Board of Pharmacy standards, and company policies.Maintain active pharmacist licensure and required registrations.Stay current on legislation, industry developments, and professional best practices.Protect organizational integrity by maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.Participate in continuing education, professional organizations, and networking opportunities.Perform additional duties as assigned and contribute to the overall success of the organization.QualificationsEducation & LicensureDoctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or BS in PharmacyActive Pharmacist license in the applicable stateExperienceRequired: 1+ year of experience in a retail pharmacy or specialty pharmacy dispensing environmentPreferred: 5+ years of experience in a retail and/or specialty pharmacy settingKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong understanding of pharmacology, medication therapy management, and FDA regulationsAbility to analyze information, exercise sound clinical judgment, and administer medications accuratelyExcellent verbal communication and patient education skillsStrong technical, operational, and clinical expertiseLeadership experience with the ability to manage people and processes effectivelyHigh attention to detail and commitment to legal and regulatory complianceComputer proficiency and experience working with pharmacy technology systemsOrganized, dependable, quality-focused, and highly ethicalEmpathetic listener with strong interpersonal communication skillsEnergetic, self-motivated team player who handles confidential and sensitive information with discretionPreferred AttributesWe're looking for professionals who are:Patient-focused Detail-oriented Quality-driven Highly collaborative Results-oriented Continuous learners Passionate about improving healthcare outcomesImpact patient lives every day Work across both retail and specialty pharmacy services Contribute to process improvement and operational excellence Collaborate with a dedicated healthcare team Grow professionally in a patient-centered environmentThis information is being provided to promote pay transparency and equal employment opportunities at Shields Health Solutions. An employee in this position can expect a salary rate between $120,000.00 and $130,000.00 plus bonus pursuant to the terms of any bonus plan if applicable.
