Mechatronics Engineer

Role Overview

Apply mechatronics expertise to help train advanced AI systems for a robotics initiative. You will review video footage of robotic arms performing complex industrial tasks and produce precise annotations that help models learn from real-world machine behavior.

Key Responsibilities

• Review recorded sessions of robotic arms executing industrial tasks.
• Tag, classify, and comment on each video session using project grading and annotation guidelines.
• Identify, document, and categorize mechanical and control issues visible in the footage.
• Use knowledge of machine movement, failure modes, and operational dynamics to determine likely causes of failures or inefficiencies.
• Deliver complete, accurate annotations that meet project standards and timelines.
• Work with project coordinators to resolve ambiguities in guidelines or video content.

Qualifications

• Professional background in mechatronics engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Experience with video annotation or data labeling, particularly for robotics or industrial automation systems, is preferred.
• Ability to recognize and interpret mechanical and control problems in complex machinery.
• Strong attention to detail and a record of producing accurate technical deliverables.
• Understanding of machine failure causes and robotic movement dynamics.
• Experience supporting AI training or machine learning projects is highly preferred.
• Ability to work independently in a remote, asynchronous project environment.

Work Terms

• Independent contractor engagement.
• Remote work is available to candidates in Northern America, Latin America, Europe, the UK, and Oceania.

Compensation

• $50 to $90 per hour.
