Design Engineer III

Responsibilities In cooperation with a project team, efficiently design and develop all mechanical aspects of new machinery and solutions, assemblies, and components and prepare and issue documentation and drawings as required by the Product Development Process (PDP). Work in project teams on the development of concepts and be responsible for the testing, investigation and verification of your concepts and designs. Pay particular attention to the implementation of function, hygienic and cleaning aspects, reliability, safety, production technologies and cost price. Action the mechanical design and development of new machinery, assemblies, and components, satisfying design and cost requirements and relevant international standards, and prepare assembly/detail drawings and part lists. Communicate changes or updates in documentation content. Perform evaluations, testing and analyses at customer site. Stay up to date with relevant developments in the field of mechanical engineering. Communicate in cross‑functional teams and contribute to team collaboration and build team spirit. Skills & Abilities Creative thinker. Knowledge of mechatronics and how it interacts with mechanical engineering. Ability and interest in working with people from different cultural backgrounds. Ability to work independently while being a team player. Good knowledge of mechanical technology and trends. Strong analytical and numerical skills. Good organizational skills, ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects. Excellent communication skills at all levels. Maintain a positive attitude under stress and pressure. Qualifications BSc in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master’s degree is a plus, technical degree also acceptable. Experience in a comparable role, preferably in the food industry. Experience with drawing tools, databases, and programming for preparation of documentation. Knowledge and understanding of the interaction between documentation and integration to ERP systems. Good English language skills, written and verbal. Experience and comfort working in a multicultural, multidisciplinary organization. Ability to travel as needed, up to 20–50% domestic and international. Travel & Location Job will be based at the Apex, NC facility. Position requires a maximum of 20‑50% travel (domestic and international). A single period of travel could be as much as a month but normally no more than 2 weeks per trip.
