Job Opportunity Position Summary This position is responsible for directing physical therapy services, coordinating and supervising the operation of the department, administering prescribed physical agents, and maintaining performance improvement activities. The role includes ensuring compliance with all regulatory laws, standards, and protocols while maintaining efficient and effective department operations. Position Qualifications
- Three (3) or more years of previous experience in physical therapy preferred.
- Current licensure or certification as a physical therapist in California.
- Knowledge of physical therapy modalities, anatomy, physiology, disease processes, and their causative factors.
- Understanding of the benefits and values of rehabilitative medicine and physical therapy agents.
- Familiarity with infection control and sterile techniques as they relate to rehabilitative practices and equipment.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with individuals at all organizational levels.
- Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills, both written and oral.
- Must demonstrate teamwork, confidentiality, respect for others, and accountability for work output.
- Exhibit professional behavior at all times and represent the organization positively.
- Develop positive working relationships with patients, visitors, and staff.
- Demonstrate organizational and time management skills.
- Produce deliverables on time and within budget, with minimal direction.
- Compile and organize data effectively using Microsoft Office applications.
- Maintain accurate and organized records, delivering them promptly upon request.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with all levels of staff.
- Accept guidance and direction within the organizational structure.
- Perform all assigned tasks accurately and in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate proficiency in using office machinery and answering phones professionally.
- Evaluate treatment effects and recommend changes to the physician if necessary.
- Conduct proper assessments of all patients and reassess as per policy.
- Ensure patient care is administered in a safe environment, minimizing healthcare errors.
- Develop and implement teaching plans based on identified learning needs and evaluate effectiveness.
- Respect and address the diverse needs of patients and their families.
- Manage equipment safely and maintain departmental cleanliness and safety standards.
- Involve patients and families in the care plan and clearly communicate with all relevant parties.
- Coordinate patient care to fulfill patient needs and abide by hospital policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate flexibility and organization under stress.
- Consult with other departments to enhance patient care and performance improvement.
- Ensure documentation meets current standards and policies.
- Train personnel through on-the-job training for various staff levels.
- Stay updated on current trends in rehabilitative medicine through ongoing education.
- Maintain professional and ethical standards of practice.
- Communicate effectively in English; proficiency in additional languages is preferred.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Understand the operation and maintenance of physical therapy equipment.
- Remain calm and maintain control in crisis situations.
- Exhibit excellent telephone communication skills.
- Adhere to dress code and maintain a neat, professional appearance.
- Complete any required annual education, if applicable.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Wear identification badge while on duty.
- Participate actively in annual evaluations.
- Report to work on time and complete work as scheduled.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Uphold the organization's mission, ethics, and goals in daily responsibilities.
- Foster a cooperative working relationship with colleagues and stakeholders.
