Job Title: Tire Technician

Job Description

The Tire Technician safely and efficiently dismounts, mounts, inspects, and services vehicle tires using power and air tools. This role focuses on diagnosing tire issues, performing basic repairs, and supporting overall tire maintenance operations while working closely with a small, collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Use power and air tools to dismount and mount tires from vehicles in a safe and efficient manner.
• Remove lug nuts or bolts from vehicle wheels and roll tires to the designated inspection station.
• Inspect tires for issues such as holes, scratches, wear, and other damage to determine appropriate service or repair.
• Perform basic tire repair work, including patching or fixing minor tire damage as directed.
• Inflate and air up tires to proper pressure specifications following safety and quality guidelines.
• Train to operate tire balancing equipment and assist with balancing tires to ensure smooth vehicle operation.
• Support tire rotation, replacement, and basic brake-related tasks as needed, within experience level and training.
• Follow all safety procedures when using tools and handling heavy tires, maintaining a clean and organized work area.
• Communicate clearly with coworkers and leadership to coordinate workflow and ensure timely completion of tasks.
• Work on feet for the full shift and repetitively lift and move tires, typically weighing 50 pounds or more.

Essential Skills

• At least 6 months of experience using power tools and air tools in a work or hands-on environment.
• Basic understanding of tire-related tasks such as removing lug nuts and bolts and handling vehicle wheels.
• Ability to learn and safely operate tire mounting, dismounting, and balancing equipment.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to lift tires repetitively, typically 50+ pounds, and remain on feet for the entire shift.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a small team.
• Attention to detail when inspecting tires for damage and performing basic repairs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Approximately 6 months of experience working with tires or vehicles in an automotive or similar setting.
• Experience with tire rotation, tire replacement, and tire balancing.
• Familiarity with brake-related tasks such as working around brake pads and associated components.
• Hobby mechanic or at-home vehicle maintenance experience.
• Comfort working with power and air tools in a fast-paced service environment.

Work Environment

The role is based in a newer, well-maintained facility located in the North Industrial Park area of Fargo, with a team of approximately 10–12 employees including leadership support. The work is highly hands-on and physical, requiring you to be on your feet for the entire shift and to lift and move tires that typically weigh over 50 pounds. You will regularly use power tools and air tools, as well as tire mounting and balancing equipment, in a service-focused shop setting. The standard schedule runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with rotating Saturday shifts from 7:30 a.m. to noon shared among technicians. A small-team culture emphasizes clear communication and positive interactions with coworkers to maintain an efficient and supportive work environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fargo, ND.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Fargo,ND.
